The first single from the upcoming PPP album features new vocalist Karma Stewart on an infectious horn-driven Motown-flavored joint called “On a Cloud.” The super-soulful gospel-tinged mix is an energetic starting point that represents the new and bigger sound of PPP. As a bonus, that track is remixed by San Francisco Bay Area producer Trackademicks, a member of the Honor Roll production crew who have been moving heads and dance floors with mixes and music for the likes of J*Davey, Phonte, and Josie Stingray that blur the lines between hip hop, soul, electro and techno. On the flip is “Angel,” featuring vocalist Coultrain, that also draws on PPPs Detroit roots, but this time it’s the cosmic-rock of Funkadelic that provides inspiration.
PPP recently announced a round of live dates during the summer of 2008 at which they will perform brand new music from their forthcoming album, Abundance. Expect new tracks, and new faces, and most of all, a celebration. To be released on Ubiquity Records in October 2008, the Abundance album will be preempted by singles through the summer. Their debut album, Triple P, brought worldwide notoriety to the Detroit-based production crew and their global collective of like-minded edgy-beat makers and soulful collaborators. Abundance marks the arrival of PPP as a band. They have developed a new sound that’s even bigger, and an album that’s more dynamic and organic than their first.
“Abundance sums up everything; our growth since Triple P, the love and encouragement to make this record that we’ve gotten from our fans, it means a lot of things,” explains band-leader and producer Waajeed. “It picks up where the first left- off. Triple P was a great start, but this sophomore album is on another level. It’s more involved and focused … it’s Electro Soul!”
Since the release of Triple P, Waajeed and production partner Saadiq moved from Detroit to Brooklyn. And while Brooklyn-life may have changed their sound, it’s also made them appreciate their Motor City roots which
are audible throughout the album, the majority of which was mixed in Detroit by Grammy award winning engineer Todd Fairall. Ubiquity

Kanye shows us that his album budget is waaaayy too big! He has 2 new video’s alternate video’s out for the single Flashing Lights with our man Dwele, mad artistic dope ass quality shots, not no bullshit handycam youtube video’s. So here check ‘m out!
This is dope, but it gets hilarious soon as Ali Shaheed mentions Dilla. Again, I don’t want to add to all the dick riding that’s already going on with Dilla, but the man was something special. I do however like that they mentioned a number of incredible artists before getting to Dilla that I feel like a lot of today’s generation forget about. Some cats just be on some Dilla only type shit. That’s craaaazzzyyy! I mean, dude was the truth, no doubt, but music is so incredibly vast. There is SO much good music out there… sorry…. I get sidetracked easily.
Long live the TRIBE! God I hope they come correct. Not just the show, but any music they start putting out there again. Omer Saar @ Universoul

Aqeelis the name of the vocalist, composer and songwriter from Los Angeles, California. Lover of music since the days of singing in church as a youth with his mother before dedicating his time professionally as a musician AQEEL spent ten years as a barber.
In 1998 he worked with Erykah Badu on a demo, she produced and he wrote the lyrics, but the project didn’t see light because AQEEL wasn’t as prepared as he thought he was. This made him more determined in taking his craft seriously. Shortly after he had another opportunity, he worked three days along side Dr. Dre on ‘The Chronic 2001’ project offering backing vocals and lyrics.
In 1999 he was offered a Motown gig in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. He stayed 4 and half years honing his skills, deciding to establish himself there. From that moment he went on to collaborate with a host of acts in Europe. The most important was Samy Deluxe and KC Da Rockee’s Fire Tour, one of the biggest tours in German history.
Well adapted in his new life style AQEEL decided to stay in Spain. In 2002 he moved to Madrid also collaborating with a host of acts there Mala Rodríguez, Jota Mayúscula, Ketama, La Excepción, Wagon Cookin’ and Guateque All Stars to name a few.
In 2005 he released his debut: BEATS AND VOICES, rated one of the best soul voices in Spain and highly praised in the Spanish media. During the recording of the record, AQEEL met GRIFFI, highly rated producer in Spain..s hip hop scene, who also did two of the hottest tunes on the album, after which he decided to move to Barcelona to work hand in hand with him. From there a great chemistry began. He collaborated with all the artists on the DEL PALO records roster: QUIROGA, SÓLO LOS SOLO and CHACHO BRODAS.
In present day AQEEL offers: INSIDE THE MIND OF AN AFRO AMERICAN ANGEL, a mixtape (i.e. FREAKTAPE) where you’ll find classic joints, recent hits, songs from his sessions with GRIFFI plus two dope brand new tracks from the smash production group SA-RA Creative Partners, childhood friends of AQEEL. On this Freaktape you..ll find a soup of sexual funk, spaced out jazz and a whole lotta soul!!! A variety of sounds and new expressions transformed from passion, dedication and hard living.
AQEEL has a deep funk project under his real name GLEN ANTHONY HENRY, his first LP ‘Relax & Love’ is now out on Unique Records.

Little Brother delivered their answer to the 9th & Jean Grae post. Are they really missing 9th…Or are they just tying to go another way with a fresher less underground style. Like it or not, Phonte & Big Pooh are still making moves. Are they part of the Moovmnt? Listen to some tracks of the N.C.Cool CD-R.
Whoaaa! 9th wonder has done it again! Everybody was getting tired of him doing the same style of beats. But with the last tracks he’s done, including the Erykah Badu joint and this one, he has proven to be one of the illest most versatile producer. I expect a bright future for the man, and i bet Phonte & Big Pooh are real sorry they let him go, haha. By the way Jean Grae is on point again, in the video i saw a different appearence than i expected to see of her, but she brought it off real good, definitely our fav female mc.
