AFTA-1 creates sounds to take you away from this world

WMO: You grew up listening to classic soul on the radio. What was the music scene like in your home town? Did you have any mentors?

AFTA-1: Influential sounds in my life have gone through constant progression, so I can’t necessarily say that soul music alone was responsible for inspiration. I’ve gone from bumping gangsta rap when my folks weren’t listening to falling asleep to classic soul and slow jams, all of which i searched for on my own and had to, since the music scene in my home town was pretty dead. No real venues or places dedicated to any kind of art or recreation besides bowling and movie theaters…had to do our own thing.

WMO: What’s in your record collection?

AFTA-1: Too many things to accurately represent the collection. Stuff from Lonnie Liston Smith to Tangerine Dream to Herbie Hancock, some psychedelic, some reggae, some Brazilian funk…a little bit of everything. A good chef keeps his seasoning cabinet well stocked.

WMO: If Aftathoughts Vol.1 is a soundtrack, what’s the visual?

AFTA-1: Well, I would say it is a soundtrack intended for the listener to create their own visual. I think different people resonate with different elements within the music, so an accompanying visual can never be just one thing.

WMO: You made an instrumental album to get people to really listen to the music. What do you think people are usually caught up in?

AFTA-1: I feel that the absence of lyrics allows the listener to meditate on their own life, as opposed to being saturated with someone else’s story. It makes space for clear thought.

WMO: Are there any new artists you’re listening to?

AFTA-1: A lot of Muhsinah, some Fly Lo, J Davey…

WMO: You said that music can change the world. How can it do that?

AFTA-1: I believe people make change, the music provides a platform for all to communicate universally. So the music can spark the change if it allows people to become in tune with themselves when they are listening.

2008 is a huge year for singer/songwriter Peter Hadar, that was kicked off by his surprise recognition as one of URB Magazine’s Next 100 Artists; calling him ,“the next, next big thing in R&B”. He was then featured in Billboard Magazine’s ‘Now Hear This’ section, both praising his style and determination for greatness. On June 3rd, Peter released his sophomore album ‘Well Dressed for the Art Show’ which further separates him from the pack; delving deeper into his Electronica, Glam, and Experimental flavor. His background in fashion extends his versatility, style, and influence. Nothing can stop this Cool Weirdo’s International TakeOver. Peter Hadar’s album “Well dressed for the art show” is available here.

Painted was produced by one of our favorite producers who goes by the name of Afta-1. If Aftathoughts-Vol1 isn’t in your daily playlist already, go cop that over here!! Also listen to the rare Esthero-Superheroes (Afta-1 Remix) on MoovmntDOTcom.

AFTA-1
Just got a hold on this instrumental album Aftathoughts Vol.1 from Afta-1. This guy makes Flying Lotus’ 1983 sound like a bunch of noise. Well you know we love Flylo, but Afta-1 will definetely be played till “Secret Formula” drops.

“With his instrumental album, Aftathoughts Vol.1, Afta-1 gives you an opportunity to hear the music again. These aren’t backing tracks, this isn’t a beat tape: this is the soundtrack to your life.
You can find Afta-1 eight hours in the future. He’s sitting on a supernova, shooting down Pluto moons with love; then running back and laying the track in your lap. Brush the moon dust off your clothes and plug in your speakers for a shape-shifting, time-collapsing, body-breaking, heart-merging experience.
Press play
Afta-1 beats leave your speakers to travel through the universe and give black holes new heartbeats. They’re playing this on Venus, they eat this for breakfast on Neptune, they live by this on Saturn. The love hums in the stratosphere, vibrating right back to your ears. Let the bass line touch base with you, down-deep. Fluff pillows for sleep and recline in the melody. Give way to drum patterns that change pulse patterns. Imbibe these rhythms and keep them for the journey. Pack these wavelengths in your suitcase, pour them in your flask, keep one in the car.”
Be a part of history. http://www.aftathoughts.com/

You should just buy this album for only $6, you will never get a better deal in your life. If you are questioning if it’s worth it. Listen to this….
