The Oscillations: Sine by Muhsinah…. It was almost 1 year ago when day.break hit the web. 3 months later, pre.lude [Japan] dropped and 2 weeks after that, a limited run of day.break 2.0 CD hit. Well… it appears to be that time again! For those of you who haven’t gotten your hands on any of the past releases.
The Oscillations: Sine is disc 1 of 2 Oscillations Limited Edition LP’s. Disc 2 The Oscillations: Triangle will be released Winter 2008. Get The Oscillations: Sine here.
Mike Slott (Heralds of Change / Lucky Me) ) comes with his 2nd solo 45 on All City in 2008. 2tracks - one instrumental and one vocal track featuring NY based singer/rapper/producer Muhsinah. “Flunky” is the a side instrumental on some future flavas with extra bounce while the flip “Deux Three“, already getting heavy rotation on Benji B’s Deviation programme, is a more mellow affaire with broken drums, wonky basslines. Artwork important, as always, and as ever Lucky Me’s Dom Sum comes with the visual sickness. Get the 45 here.
The Foreign Exchange has a new website! Phonte and Nicolay were kind enough to put the first single Daykeeper ft. Muhsinah online for you to download. The only thing they need is your e-mail address. Seattle super producer and self proclaimed “perfect beat writer” Jake One steps from behind the boards to present his own debut full-length album, White Van Music. Polishing his production chops over the last decade, Jake One has crafted the musical soundscapes for everyone from De La Soul (”Rock Co.Kane Flow” feat. MF DOOM) to 50 Cent (”All Of Me” feat. Mary J. Blige). With an impressive and diverse discography Jake One has managed to bring his sound from the underground to the Billboard Top 10 charts. The album contains a cast of legendary guest rappers ranging from some of Hip Hop’s most respected mainstream acts Freeway, Young Buck & Busta Rhymes to underground legends MF DOOM, Black Milk, Nottz, Elzhi, Brother Ali & Little Brother. Having landed on the musical radar like some kind of a phantom battleship, this Washington D.C. native continues to fires away at us, sinking nay-sayers and making a name for herself at a rate which some might consider alarming. Appearing on a slew of independent releases this year, Muhsinah has earned each and every title that’s been thrown her way- engineer/producer/composer/singer/songwriter/arranger/inspiration and the like. Contrary to popular misconception, Muhsinah was not dropped off on this planet by some enigmatic cosmic force; she hitched a ride on her own star. Listen
