Dâm-funk (pronounced: Dame-Funk), a true ‘Modern-Funksta’, was born in Culver City, CA, raised in Pasadena, CA. and is now based in the Leimert Park section of Los Angeles, CA. dâm-funk grew up listening to many styles of music: Funk, Soul, Disco, New-Wave and even Metal. Drums was his first instrument playing along to records lick for lick from the likes of The Ohio Players and Rose Royce, to KISS and Rush in his bedroom from around the young age of 6 until his early high school years.
You may know dãm-funk from his remix of Baron Zen’s “Burn Rubber” & his debut solo joint “Sidewayz” both out now on Stones Throw yet, he also throw’s one of the freshest Monday nite parties in L.A. called Funkmosphere which focues on rare joints via ‘original wax’ from the early 80’s based Boogie/Funk, Modern-Soul, & ‘current’ Modern-Funk sub genres respectfully.
