The good people over at RVA Mag did an interview with Klipmode’s Devonwho, and blessed us with a great mix of some new and old tunes. I think this is a great prelude to Klipmode’s Funraiser Vol.1 series, that will be out in upcoming few weeks. You can find the interview and the tracklist after the jump..

This raw video was posted on YouTube and became an instant online phenomenon. Equal parts G-funk, California Soul and Hobo Street, the song features full musical accompaniment created only by Red. The natural funk and flow struck a chord with an international audience representing a true Cali sound. In this era of T-Pain and excess studio production, the video showcased an almost forgotten musical form with no auto-tune or talk-box, only the beating of his chest and the hum of his throat as a bass kick and snare, and highlighted by signature vocals and original rhymes, this was Red – The Man Without The Machine. Get the EP via iTunes and let us know which version is doper…the original one or the Dam-Funk remix? For the full read go to the HVW8 website…one love to Ty G and the HVW8 fam!

Dutch singer and keyboardist Ugene has been making quite some noise over here in the Netherlands. Nic and Ugene recorded this cover version of the Quincy Jones produced Donna Summer track “Love Is In Control (Finger On The Trigger)” in April of 2005. It was originally intended for a compilation album on an indie label, but they didn’t use it and so the track ended up on the shelf.
Ugene is another artist that deserves any and all attention. He’s currently working on a new project with a formation that actually includes two other friends of mine from Europe, Krewcial (the live guy with glasses) and Gus. Click here for one of their recent videos.

DJ Spinna‘s return was highly enticipated by me eversince I met him last year at Black Soil. He was telling me he was coming back with another hiphop album and here it is. I suggest you take a minute to relax, pop the “Sonic Smash” album in your sound system and let it take you there. It has some great featuring artists like Phonte, Yazarah, Shabaam Sahdeeq, John Robinson and Erik Rico on there and “More Colors” featuring Elzi from Slum Village is definetely one of the dopest joints on there. The sample really takes me back to: That’s how it was, this is how it is, you gotta keep it real when you deal with them Brooklyn kids. Oh you know you want to BUY the album via iTunes…so just do so.

The new installment comes amidst the overwhelming anticipation of the 3rd installment, “The Oscillations: Triangle” (which is still being recorded).
In a nutshell… 7/20 is Muhsinah’s birthday and “The Oscillations: Square” is in a sense, The Golden Girl’s gift to the fans. 13 tracks that would surely be lost to time if not for this release. “Gems” if you will, polished to be shared. Hopefully this will hold you all over until The Oscillations: Triangle is complete. This digital exclusive can be bought via 21bizarre. Oh and happy Birthday to miss Sinah of course!

Residing from Stockholm these guys (Rik Skizzo and Pure Pare) knew how to bang out a quality album. They used crispy drums, deep bass and knew their way around synths for sure. If you’re in for a fantastic ride, I suggest you get yourself a copy of “The Venus High” album. You’re in for a real treat with features by Little Brother, Planet Asia, Eska, ADL & Melo! Too bad they broke up, but still a massive slept on album if you ask me.

As always, Sarah brings a steady dose of mellow vocals with nuff attitude, mixed up with Brukzilian beats, post-Dilla deepness and some Latin-fuelled funky madness courtesy Public Transit’s Moonstarr, as well as Sarah’s fellow Academy alumni Aklimatize and Camplaix. Watch out for the creative class – and a full-length dropping this autumn…(RBMA)

Pac Div uses the basketball theme – “Church League Champions” – as a metaphor for all the underdogs in life. The moral is never be afraid to do you, never be ashamed of starting from scratch. See your dream, persue your dream, don’t look back and you’ll become champions!
Nice to hear some new joints from Pac Div, but too bad they didn’t go all out and saved their best for their first official album. Can’t complain though…it’s FREE. Download the album on their website or HERE directly.

This IAM1 Journey of Amsterdam, featuring Nalden as the storyteller, is a part of the Nike Europe project showcasing creative hotspots in 5 cities through the eyes of their native revolutionaries. This great stop-motion movie takes you to a few of Nalden’s favorite spots and people like Momkai, the MiNiBar, HOTEL and La Melodia. The wonderful soundtrack was made by Melodee and I.N.T. (La Melodia) and can be enjoyed as of now…
