It’s been hectic here and we didn’t want to hit you guys with some corny ass Michael Jackson post. So we waited to bring you this beautiful Lady Alma & Mark de Clive-Lowe rework of “I Can’t Help It”. Lovely and suiting tribute to the king of pop. The entire MOOVMNT crew was a big Michael Jackson fan, so needles to say we too feel sad he passed away recently. You might remember we posted a snippet of this a while ago, but the final version is our way of paying homage to the world’s greatest…R.I.P.

We just got word that both DJ Spinna‘s “Sonic Smash” album and Fresh Daily‘s “Fresh Daily is the Gorgeous Killer in Crimes of Passion” album, have been pushed back. Get Spinna’s album July 21st and Daily’s album August 13th. To make up for this, we are leaking this Fresh Daily joint produced by DJ Spinna entitled “Gotta Go” that isn’t on either of their albums. As if this wasn’t enough we decided to share this killer track from Spinna’s upcoming album. “Still Golden” features Tiye Phoenix and is one of the hottest tracks on Sonic Smash in my opinion. Hawthorne Headhunters are Stoney Rock (perhaps better known as Black Spade), Ced No and Proh Mic . I can’t remember when I first heard from the HHH, all I know is that we posted their single “She Wanna” a long time ago..so if you slept on that..here is a free download. The second track “Get Up” won’t be on the EP, and will probably be featured on the Kenny Fresh HHH tape.  Their upcoming EP will be released on HVW8 on July 27th.

Shame on me! Now apparently I’ve had this Method Man & Redman – “Mrs. International” – joint for months, but never got around to listening to it. Luckily my cuz Mr. Speak told me about this wonderful track last week. Since the official video is out, I thought it might be nice to share it with ya’ll. There’s a cameo for the green eyed bandit Mr. Erick Sermon as well. Am I the only one that slept on this…I wonder. Lets call this a “Slept on Mondays” or sumthin. The original BB Queen Bahamadia, with her distinctive smooth-monotone flow, has quietly faded into the background. Her first album “Kollage” was a hiphop classic and till this day still brings a smile to my face whenever I hear it. Don’t even get me started on that remix the Roots did for “I Confess”…
Anyway, in 2000 she came back with yet another (so forgotten) classic! For many people “BB Queen” was the first time they ever heard Dwele sing and produce & that joint with Slum Village…still sick!

It wasn’t a total surprise that Bahamadia left us with a 5 year hiatus again to come back in 2005 with the slept on album of the week “Good Rap Music”. In my opinion it’s not her best album, but still it does have a couple of nice joints on it worth checking out. The title track was produced by Kev Brown and it also features producers like King Britt and Hezikiah Davis. You gotta love the smart-ass rhymes and buttery flow she’s become so well known for. One more reason for every musician to move to LA. Last week there was a private jam session in a secret location in downtown LA..with an amazing line-up. Mark de Clive-Lowe on juno 6, radias, mpc3000, Shafiq Hussain from Sa-Ra Creative Partners on his juno, Computer Jay on his rhodes and 3 moogs, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson on his violin, Zap Mama and LA fam on vocals, Todd Simon on trumpet..and more. The actual jam itself was pulled together by Dru from Artdontsleep and was documented on video, pics and audio. Below is a cut of the whole jam. Big ups to Mark de Clive, Computer Jay and Artdontsleep..

Already these guys are my favourite band of 2008/2009. Computer Jay, J-1 and Dam-Funk took it up another notch with a “more funk than jazz” Super Session recorded live at the HVW8 Art + Design. It was the first time these cats played together as a group and thus Master Blazter was born.

Now I think this hour long improv shit is sicker than chemotherapy! So if you love Dam Funk solo, you’re most definitely going to love the “HVW8 International Podcast, Vol. 2” (watch the video after the jump). One love to L.A.’s Computer Jay, Ty G and the whole HVW8 fam!

A couple of days ago an envelope dropped on our mat. It turned out our pal Koen had sent us their upcoming album “Nextop”. Now for those who’ve never heard of Blocnotes before…here’s the 411.

Hailing from Groningen, this Dutch trio consists of beat-genius Koen and MC’s Roelie and Vinnie. They’ve been making music for quit a while now and left somewhat of a hiatus…only to return brick-hard with a brand new 11 track album called “Nextop”.

Now we’re known to be the pickiest motherfuckers this side of the planet, but our verdict is BUY! The first two tracks on the album (“Je Hoort Ons” and “Een Lijn”) are so damn dope, we didn’t need to hear any more. It was a done deal and no surprise they made a VIDEO of “Een Lijn”. It was done by Patrick Louwerse and blew our minds. Check it out by clicking on the word VIDEO! As long as we’re doing shout outs…big ups Rebekka Thenu for the additional vocals.
