I was on The Sole Dojo where I read about these Little Brother remixes by Nefarious. Now normally I’m not a remix kinda guy, but this “Life of The Party” remix just sounds too nice. Here’s what Nefarious had to say:
“Here are two remixes I did of some of my favorite LB tracks. I hate remixing but I might as well share what I have. They were on my 2008 anthology EP but I didn’t really promote it as much as I wanted. Download them and post comments saying what you think!”

This Project mainly features undiscovered, fresh producers/DJ’s/designers who are about to blow up worldwide. Our buddy Kazzzz sent us some ill music from Japan last month, but we had to let it simmer for a while. A lot of artists and designers are down with these cats so be sure to keep an eye out for each and every one of them! My favorites are..

I heard The Astronotes‘ “Space Water Babies” featuring Kissey Asplund and Rep Life last year and kinda forgot to do anything with it.

This got me very curious about upcoming future releases.

This week it was our buddies from BamaLoveSoul that made us realize we’ve been sleeping on – ex-Jamiroquai bassist Stuart Zender‘s side project – AZUR (pronounced Az U R) like sleeping beauty. The project was to show off the men’s writing skills and Stu’s own producing talents on the Virgin Records label. The group was to feature a horn section from Cuba, Pino Palladino, and D’Angelo. A single was planned (major worldwide release) for Spring 2000. So what went wrong? It seems Tyrese did. Virgin’s decision to release and promote the Tyrese album seemed to upset Stu. I don’t know why or how fully this is true but we know the result. Virgin Records kept sending money to Stuart & Donny for the AZUR project, but AZUR kept sending back no word. Virgin decided to call it quits and so the album disappeared.
“Love is So Cold” (featuring D’Angelo) was originally slated as “My Baby’s Eyes” for D’Angelo’s Voodoo album, but I guess he cut it. Smooth delivery, subtle bassline and light percussion. I didn’t realize before, but this is on Yoda II release too. So I guess I overslept on this one right here…
The track was also brilliantly sampled by Exile on his latest “Radio” album…Stay Tunes (Stay Here).

Building on a multitude of successful EP and full-length releases, TAKE has unleashed a slew of new works, DJ mixes and remixes in 2009 and we’re not even half-way through the year yet! Co-founder of the legendary beat showcase night “Sketchbook”, he has been an influential figure in the LA beat scene since day one. 2009 is the year he steps out from the shadows clutching fresh material for the All City, Poobah and Dublab labels and shiny new remixes for the likes of Warp’s Flying Lotus. His music is an epic journey, leading the listener down dust covered roads of bit-crushed melodies and molested jazz samples, all hemmed in by walls of bass. Make sure you check out TAKE on his extensive European tour. More info on that after the jump.
Now TAKE was kind enough to offer y’all a first listen of the Flying Lotus – Parisian Goldfish (TAKE Remix) which will be on Flying Lotus’ L.A Ep3, and a Remix of Architeq – Sleeping bEAR of the Marry Anne Hobbs compilation for Planet Mu..remember you heard it first on MOOVMNT ;).

Vintage soul and funk sounds from the late 60’s and early 70’s are perfectly captured here in ballads, uptempo grooves and interludes by the Expressions, Lee’s backing band and the team behind Brooklyn’s Truth & Soul Records.
Fields has been making records ever since his departure from his religious upbringing in North Carliona and move to New York in 1969. This old soul is still alive and kicking today, singing with a voice both tender and sand-paper rough on records in the vein of Otis Redding and Bobby Womack. On this solid album filled with thick drumgrooves, horns and string sections, Fields deals with the themes; such as heartaches, adoration of loved ones and social problems; that have been so common in soul and funk music. Rather than sounding dated and overly-familiar, Lee and his band succeed in writing songs that will last throughout time to remain relevant today.
It’s hard to pick highlights in such a well put-together album. Standout tracks are delivered when Lee yearns for affection on ‘Love Comes And Goes’ and ‘The Only One Loving You’; is driven almost to tears after being left behind in ‘Honey Dove’; and gives social commentary on ‘My World,’ driven by a lush drum groove and strings that will send chills up your spine.
No fillers here, except for the three instrumental tracks, ‘Expressions’ Theme,’ ‘These Moments’ and ‘Last Ride,’ that round out a very nice record, surpassing a number of artists who attempt to capture that old sound but simply fail to write good songs. Visit Rushhour to pre-order the album on VINYL or CD!

Pseudo Slang, a Buffalo, New York based hip-hop duo comprised of rapper Emcee Sick, of the crewXtracts Of Slang, and producer Tone Atlas, of the crew Pseudo Intellectuals, are proud to announce the release of their new studio LP. “Broke & Copasetic” – the album’s lead single – features R&B/new soul songstress Vinia Mojica whom we all have been waiting for to drop something new ever since her “Black & Blue” bootleg (with productions by Hi-Tek, DJ Spinna & Ge-0logy). Their first single sounds like hiphop used to sound when I was still into vinyl. I guess that’s a big compliment coming from me nowadays so ya’ll keep an eye out for Pseudo Slang’s new album “We’ll Keep Looking” when it drops June 2nd via Fat Beats Records.
