linkwood_system

Once again the Linkwood Family get down and dirty. Their new album “System” is an album forged from experience. Unlike the last album, this one is a true cross-over ranging from 80’s boogie-influenced music to techno-ish and deep house sounding tunes. I know I’m in love with at least two joints of this album, so give it a listen if you see it in the recordshop. Available via Rushhour or Juno Records (from Oct. 9th) for the lovers of digital music.

Their music is best described as modern day boogie or neo funk (whatever you’d like to call it). Check out these ten fine boogie tunes to please your thirst for authentic true 80’s funk’n’disco grooves. If you like Dam-Funk ya’ll have to give this one a listen and download the whole thing for FREE at High Steppin! Oh can’t forget to thank my man K Murda (aka B. Bravo‘s lil bro) for this one! KEYEL is a hip hop group hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, consisting of emcee’s Prose, Holy Moly, Pease, and DJ ESO. While the emcees have been childhood friends for many years, the collective that is now known as KEYEL was born from a mutual love of raw hip hop and appreciation of similar influences. The crew met DJ ESO while wyling out at a Slum Village show- and the beginning of a musical experience had begun.

Pulling influence from Detroit rap pioneers J Dilla (RIP) and Slum Village, as well as acts such as Common, DJ Premier, and Madlib, KEYEL has successfully recreated a sound equal parts classic hip hop and new age dope. Their pledge is to keep it all about the music as they continue to develop sonically. No B.S.- just that raw shit. No gimmicks- just key elements. KEYEL has shared the stage with acts such as Little Brother, Murs, Brother Ali, Tyga, Poetic Republic, and plans on continuing to rock shows and move crowds everywhere they go. You can now download their Mixtape over HERE, and buy some clothes over HERE.

Ooops!

One time only repress of Hudson Mohawke “OOOPS!” In anticipation of his recent signing to Warp records, he’s releasing a limited edition EP of remixes, rescued from obscurity by the boys behind Lucky Me and Wireblock. then turning it inside out and shaking it down. The four cuts of this ‘Ooops!’ release merge Hud Mo’s raw, uncompromising drum programming and future-proof synths with the glitz of mainstream urban accapellas. Over the course of the EP, Tweet’s accapella of ‘Ooops’ burns into club banging Timbaland mode while Yummy and Sean Simp feel some distorted bass funk, and Ashanti’s Wail gets treatment worthy of a Dabrye and Boards of Canada collab. Pre-Order now on Rushhour. rushhour.

Fashawn‘s “Boy Meets World” album is coming closer by the day (Oct. 20th). Lately I’ve been seeing one dope video after another. Not only did Punit Dhesi direct the “Sunny CA” video, he also recently did the “Life As A Shorty” vid and that one is simply amazing. Together with the “Our Way” video with Evidence, I count three consecutive homeruns. Can’t wait for the album to drop and I know ya’ll can’t neither. So in the meantime here is another bone to keep you hungry dogs satisfied for the moment. All day, here is “Sunny CA” west up ya’ll..big up Exile.

beat-dimensions-2

Volume 2 continues where the first left off. Twenty exclusive beats from forward thinking producers the world over. Exciting and contrasting instrumentals from known producers such as Danny Breaks (Alphabet Zoo / Droppin’ Science), Dorian Concept (Kindred Spirits), Dimlite (All City), Ras G (Poobah) & Samiyam (Brain Feeder), Exile (Sound In Color), Fulgeance (Musique Large), Nosaj Thing (Alpha pup) Dizz1, Low Limit & Tiago, Devon, Busy…and more

Compiled by ‘beat connoisseurs’ Cinnaman & Jay Scarlett, the compilation touches on many different angles of ‘this music’. There’s introspective, tripped out and buzzing synth scapes, short popping electronic songs to full-on MPC party thumpers.

Ever since its first releases, almost three years ago, Beat Dimensions has aided the developments in beat orientated music, becoming almost a genre in itself. Releasedate October 6th. Pre-Order now on Rushhour.
