This week seems to be a one filled with love and music. Big homey G from Cosmonostro introduced us to two brothers, who are originally from Mongolia. They live in Russia now and go by the name of Araatan.
Somehow it all adds up when you think about it for a second. I mean I love coffee and beats. So why am I not surprised that when we asked to premiere Araatan’s track called Coffee, I said yes right away. The siblings gained millions of plays on Youtube thanks to their fair share of successful collaborations with Russian rappers of the first magnitude. On their “Aurora” EP they put more emphasis on the electronic side of things.
This Saturday, on Valentine’s Day, the EP sees it’s official release. Pre-orders are available on the Araatan Bandcamp page.
Our friends from Jakarta Records haven’t been sitting still lately. The Winter In Jakarta compilation comes out officially today and it’s a worthy follow-up to the previously released Summer In Jakarta.
My resources tell me Jakarta has been under water for the past three days, so officially I wouldn’t say it’s wintertime. Of course in Germany it’s full on winter, but don’t expect no icey cuts though. Most tracks on this compilation are smoldering and will surely melt your face…guaranteed!
Last week Okayplayer premiered three tracks and today we gladly premiere two more! First one is by one of our favorite Dutch producers Singularis. His laid back funk cut called “Island” is super groovy and will make plenty of heads nod. Suff Daddy‘s “Pumpin Like Reeboks” comes so damn hard it knocks your teeth right back into your throat. Wish I had a 4 minute version of this, but I guess I will just have to abuse the replay button.
Take a listen to both track below and download Winter In Jakarta for free. Also keep your eyes open for the free cassette tape edition available from selected retailers.
Blvnt Records is an independent Hiphop label / collective out of Ann Arbor and Chicago. We’ve been following them for a minute and are glad they have just released their “The Blvnt Compilation“.
The collective consists out of a gang of producers. To give you an idea, here’s a few of our favorites. Harris Cole, C Y G N, IanEwing and Fitzroy are without a doubt talented producers that you should check out. Of course don’t let us guide you too much and make sure you grab a super affordable download (by visiting the Blvnt Records Bandcamp page) of the compilation so you can hear for yourself.
Candid Music Group (founded by Brooklyn natives JNTHNSTEIN & Ivan Jackson) released their very first compilation ever a week and a half ago.
The duo operates out of a studio in Willamsburg, Brooklyn where they gathered quite some interesting artists like Penthouse Penthouse, BrassTracks, Mr. Carmack, S’natra, Alexander Lewis and of course Candid Music Group founders JNTHNSTEIN and Ivan Jackson themselves. The eleven track “Fam Volume One” release is a compilation of tracks from their extremely talented extended musical family. And hopefully the first of many more to come.
It is available for free download and we suggest you show it the love and appreciation it deserves!
Three weeks have passed since the inception of Werk Space. A monthly Dutch producer series that takes place at the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam. Here’s how it works.
Each month we invite a producer from the Netherlands to showcase his artistry and challenge him to work in an amazingly fruitful environment.
The Red Bull Studios Amsterdam is a state-of-the-art recording and production facility, where renowned and up-and-coming artists, are provided with everything they need in order to celebrate and create music!
Nineteen-year-old Singularis delivers the first blow with some help of fellow producer Sndwvs. After two days of pure creativity, and some laughs, they left the studio having devised a laid back Hiphop beat entitled “Ride”.
We joyfully premiere the very first piece of music spawned from this series. We’ll merge all three tracks into one EP and release it as a free download early April. Best believe this is only the first of many music findings. You will come to know, love and respect the many talented producers our little country has to offer.
Big shout out to the wonderful Serena Indigo for creating the artwork for Werk Space.
A few weeks ago we kicked off our monthly Dutch producer series called ‘Werk Space’. First up to bat was the young homey Singularis, who brought along his buddy Sndwvs and created some fresh new sounds at the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam.
My good friend Joao Costa from SAE, and his charming assistant Thamar, paid a visit and captured some magic moments on camera. It took a while to edit, but finally here’s episode 1 of many more to come. Next batter up is Moods from Rotterdam and we have a little surprise for you in store. We invited a talented young vocalist to record with Moods, but more about that next time.
In the meanwhile enjoy and look out for the track “Ride” to come out next week!
Wingman Migamo aka Mike Gao has been crushing it lately! Not only when it comes to Asian cuties, but also with highly original sounds and patterns.
First two seconds I met Migamo, I knew he was a total geek. But then again who in music isn’t? His “Migamo” album on Daddy Kev’s Alpha Pup label contains some highly experimental, yet mind-bending beats. You will also find some interesting guest appearances from Mr. Carmack, Elaquent, Teklun, eLan, Go Yamma and Allie Moves.
Last Friday XLR8R premiered “Just Do You” and we are pleased to exclusively treat you to “Yo Bae“. Yessir, free download and all!
If it were up to fLako you will be going KuKu very shortly, but worry too much about it. Of course you are not loosing your marbles (yet). Though I think after having heard his upcoming EP you might be going nuts just a little.
Following fLako’s “Eclosure” EP from 2012, the Chilean producer returns to business with his brand new KuKu EP. Each track is sliced with a evocative exotica and an unrestricted creativity, made up of hints of organic and orchestral components. It will be released on Five Easy Pieces in three weeks time. fLako really outdid himself again his time and I wonder what you guys think about the newness.
Don’t forget to follow Natureboy aka fLako on Soundcloud and you can purchase KuKu at HHV, Juno or Bleep in three weeks time.
Wonderful Noise is without a doubt one of our favorite Japanese record labels. They have introduced us to artists such as Electric Wire Hustle, Julien Dyne and Lord Echo.
In 2014 they continue to surprise us with their “Conglomerates” compilation album. Again there’s an obvious link to New Zealand since it was compiled with the help of Julien Dyne. You can enjoy some brand new music from Christoph El’ Truento, Lord Echo, Mara TK, Isaac aesili, Ladi6, Pacific Heights and more. There are also 3 limited edition vinyl records, but I believe these are hard to come by.
If you’re looking for an original Christmas present, we suggest you pick up Conglomerates at your local records shop or order it online at HHV. As far as we know this will not be released digitally, but a CD release should be out soon.
My man Marcel, who is the driving force behind INFINIT, is a super cool fella from Dusseldorf who visits Amsterdam from time to time. We kicked it a couple of times, had some great coffee and talked a lot of music.
For his new “WAVES” compilation, he has collected tracks from 17 different producers including IAMNOBODI, Haan808, Nehzuil, AbJo and SevnthWonder. Besides these quite known producers, there is also plenty of room for up-and-coming cats such as DTWEEZER, Tibe and Boulevard 95. Make sure you discover each and every one.
This action-packed compilation is entirely free, so get your download on and show some INFINIT love.
