For our latest Moovmnt guest mix, we decided to ask our buddy Anthony Valadez, from the always sunny Los Angeles. A loooooong time ago Ant blessed us with a Moovmnt exclusive guest mix, but we thought time was right for a follow-up. In two months I’ll be visiting KCRW’s very own teddy bear in the flesh for some bro luv. Thank you AntVa and also special thanks to Duktus for the nice artwork.
Heard and Felt Music presents another compilation album, “Stylin’ 600″, presented by Melbourne’s favorite radio icon Ennio Styles. There’s music on there from Heavy, Sampha, Brandee Younger, ChromodaData and DuFrayne. Best part is that it’s a free download in celebration of 600 episodes and 12 years of Stylin’.
Thanks to Sweeney Kovar we got wind of an MC who goes by the name of Chris Clarke who quite recently released his latest project, “The Handpicked”, for free (for a limited time only). This project features handpicked collaborations with some of L.A.’s finest including Stephen ‘Thundercat’ Bruner and his brother Ronald Bruner Jr. The track “Don’t Mimic” is by far the best thing on there with additional harmonizing from Kamasi Washington and sax solo from Taylor Graves. Good news…this one is still available as a free download right here!
Thanks to our German buddy IAMNOBODI, you can now slip into something comfortable and help any willing female get into your bubble bath for a warm, sexy soak. Many thanks for this little freebie called “BUBBLEBATHDREAM$”..
This time around we have producer duo Nangdo & Koen from Groningen, the high north of the Dutch low lands. You must have heard their music on the site in the past. If you haven’t, I suggest you get hip to it. Many thanks for supplying us with another free downloadable Moovmnt guest mix and shout out to Duktus as well.
Hong Kong’s J-Hoon released “Favorite Line” off his debut solo album “Noodles” and asked us if we would like to premiere Opolopo‘s remix. Of course we said yes. This free download is being released independently in Manila & Hong Kong and features Phatkhat (no not the one from Detroit). Favorite Line displays the sentiment of reminiscing the ‘good old days’ and accepting that nothing lasts forever. Stemmed from a jam session in Manila during an Opolopo gig, “Favorite Line” remix was orchestrated by Opolopo, taking the sentiments and emotions of the song to a whole new level.
The weekend is here and thanks to DJ Azer from Belgium, we bring you part 5 of our Moovmnt Guest Mix series. Azer collected a gang of favorite songs that he’s had on heavy rotation on his weekly show available on Mixcloud. I bet you guys are going to dig this one a lot! Again we thank Duktus for coming through with the artwork.
Another delicious audio refreshment coming out of Vienna today. Thanks to Mez and Jonny Sass we can enjoy “Standing In The Light”. A tasty soulful delight.
One of our favorite music website’s Giant Step just released a nice compilation put together by Maiya Norton. The compilation features Seravince, Shafiq Husayn & Dove Society, MED, Stacy Epps and others. You can download it for free on the Giant Step NYC bandcamp.
Since I can remember, gettin’ into beats and other (at the time) new sounding genres, the name Jay Scarlett has popped up in the corner of my eye quite some times. It would be many years later that we would meet. Under terrible circumstances, because I was kinda waisted attending his Beat Dimensions party. Nevertheless we shared musical insights many of times via Facebook and it’s an honor to have Jay be part of our Moovmnt Guest Mix series. What can I say man? He got me at the intro. Big up Duktus for coming through with some clean artwork yet again and yes there is a free download available.
