We thought we’d roll into some new Hip Hop from Realm Reality who is the latest signee to Prodigy’s Infamous Records. The L.A. rapper recently dropped “I Just Want To Be There” featuring Blu and Fred Da Godson off his “In Grind We Trust” mixtape. Really diggin’ this production from Nottz Raw, who still bangin’ out dem beats we like. Make sure you snatch up a free download of this while supplies last.
Belgian Funkster Pomrad is releasing some brand new music on Earnest Endeavours. The first “Pomslap” to the face is free of charge and taken from the forthcoming “This Day” EP, This will be out April 15th on vinyl and digitally so act like you know.
Mnsdgn dropped a new EP on cassette (sold out) and digitally via Bandcamp. Now this release reminded me of the infamous Klipm0de crew which consisted of Suzi Analogue, Devonwho, Knxwledge and Mndsgn. If you’re not familiar with the klipm0de crew, Kenny Fresh’ archives will get you up to date.
Meet Tom Bauwens who also goes by the name of ToolBox. This young producer from Belgium just showed up on my radar and I’m liking what I’m hearing so far. A few days ago the gents over at OohWee dropped a free downloadable joint on Soundcloud. We thought we’d be so kind to add another stream to get you all acquainted. Remember the name and where you heard it first or second.
Hip Hop production duo JR & PH7, hailing from Cologne/Copenhagen, have been bangin’ out fat beats for quite a while. Their latest “The Good Life” album has been out for a few months, but I just discovered their brand new “Goodbye” single featuring Phonte and Median. Big Brenk Sinatra remix on there, so make sure you wear your neckbrace for this one! Available on iTunes so make sure you go check this out. Thanks to Jakarta Records for the free download of the original version.
Has it really almost been 1 1/2 years since we brought you the last Future of Funk mix? So sorry we left you funkless for such a long period of time, but with a new website comes new inspiration. Mr. Speak and I picked up were we left off in 2011 and are happy to present to you: The Future of Funk 3. In case you missed out on previous previous The Future of Funk mixes, get hip and educate yourselves.
Sirr Om’Mas Keith, best known from the age of Sa-Ra, released his “City Pulse” solo album…FOR FREE. Of course with Thundercat on bass and Erykah Badu on vocals, there is nothing to complain about. Might not be my favorite work from Om’Mas, but I am really feenin’ “All 4 You” featuring miss Badu and Shafiq Husayn!
It’s been ages since we posted some new Ta-Ku joints, but finally the fool came back with some smooth sounding stuff entitled, “Make It Last”, featuring JMSN. Kinda on that nineties silky R&B tip, but with some pretty shiney new drums provided by this producer from Perth. A full length EP is coming out next week via LiveForTheFunk. Available for free download, so you just caught a break.
Growing up in South London, singer/songwriter Sean J. Rankine started learning the drums and percussion, playing in a choir alongside bassist Micheal Olatuja (Olatuja Project) and guitarist Femi Temowo (Femitone). Last year Sean dove into music even deeper, teaming up with producer Justin Atherley, with the release of “(Love Is) Here Now” a single (available as a ‘name your price’ download) from his forthcoming EP. You won’t find phrases such as ‘world domination’ or ‘household name’ in Sean’s master plan. In fact there is no plan. He simply wants to learn, evolve and create art he can be proud of.
