Thank you Damon for sharing “Private Planet” with the world. Such a nice way to glyde into a FUNK-filled 2013. The homey DaM-FunK was nice enough to make this one available as a free download for everyone, so slyde on thru to his Soundcloud page and get some of that good stuff. Previously unreleased 13-minutes of pure DF right here.
Next week (Decmber 13th) Jesse Boykins III will be performing at the North Sea Jazz Club in Amsterdam. Especially for this occasion we cooked up a little JB3 ‘Moovmnt Mini Mix’ for ya’ll to kick back to. We carefully selected ten of our favorite songs and managed to squeeze them into a 25 minute treat. Some obvious winners on here as well as the necessary slept on nuggets.
Free downloads are available on Soundcloud and we uploaded this one to Mixcloud too. The Jesse Boykins III event is hosted by us so don’t be shy and come check out the show!
We’d like to congratulate Vincent aka Seravince with the 1st official single of his upcoming “Hear To See” album. Some of you might know Vince under his former Flowriders moniker. Seravince is all about being true to yourself and sticking to your guns. A lot of time and effort was put into this project and we are proud to be able to bring you quality music such as “U Love” featuring Renee Neufville. You might have heard an early version of this before, but the final mixdown sounds so much better. Please note that this ‘name your price’ free download will be available in limited quantities, but in case you’d like to donate a little something you are most welcome to do so. Hear To See will be available on CD in Japan tomorrow so look for the Japan edition with that sexy obi strip in your local Japanese music shop. A worldwide release is slated for December…right on time for Christmas!
This afternoon I had fLako‘s “Lion’s Mane” featuring Dirg Gerner on repeat! Like a good boy I decided to keep the audio to myself, but when I saw XLR8R was giving away “Mating Dance” away as an exclusive free download, I knew I had to post this one. Expect another post next weekend right before his “Eclosure” EP drops on Five Easy Pieces. Should be November 26th. I already ordered me some limited edition clear vinyl…and so should you!
It’s been a while since I heard some new good ol’ Hip Hop music that I wanted to bump my head to. Today I found out about this new Quartermaine joint, produced by Kev Brown, and my neck was thanking me to the fullest extent. Some good ass rhymin’ on “War Of The Roses” which is available as a free download on the Redef Soundcloud page. This jam is on the “Quarter Life Crisis” album due next month on Redefinition Records/Low Budget Records by the way.

Lionel Loueke started playing percussion like most kids in Benin (West Africa). At age 17 he picked up the guitar and never let it go. His latest “Heritage” album is a collaboration and co-production with label mate Robert Glasper. Derrick Hodge and drummer Mark Guiliana join in to create another soon great Jazz album. For those that loved “Black Radio”, you might want to take a listen to this album on as well. Oh and for a nice freebie you can scoop up a free download of “Dangbe Dance” on Loueke’s Soundcloud page!

Slept on by quite some heads I reckon, but for me this was one of those joints! Remember Inverse Cinematics from Germany with “B One” which came out via Tokyo Dawn Records around 2004? It had that Vikter Duplaix vibe going on and was released only digitally if memory serves me right. Enjoy this free Lo-Fi lust on your Sunday.

Solid song from Gensu Dean featuring Olivier Daysoul entitled “Wantchu”. This on is available on 7″ vinyl at the Mello Music Group shop or downloadable in digital format for free on Bandcamp.
