On the last day of August we return with already the 8th mix in our “Glimmering Fractions” series. This month’s birthstone is Peridot, which is not to be mistaken for Emeralds. We hope you enjoy this mix as much as all the previous ones. Listen to this month’s mix on Soundcloud (download available) or head over to Mixcloud (stream only).

Melbourne’s Illy & M-Phazes will be reworking well known songs from all corners of the music spectrum. Each of these “Friday Flips” will be built from songs suggested by the audience. You will be directly involved in the process of creation and each person who’s suggestion gets flipped wins some Illy merchandise. Very dope initiative, simply because the way Phazes flips some cheesy sounding Dubstep song by Skrillex called “Rock ‘N’ Roll” is just bananas. Oh go ahead and snatch that free download while it’s still available.
[audio:http://www.moovmnt.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Illy-M-phazes-Rock-and-Roll-160-MOOVMNT.mp3]So the second volume of “Worldwide Family” dropped today after having been pushed back. I was in doubt whether or not we should post about this, but the verdict is…yes. Kutmah selected over 20 tracks for you to enjoy, ranging from FlyLo & Samiyam to HudMo & fLako. Overall not the illest compilation on Brownswood, but since I decided I’m flying out to LA again this summer Shash’U’s “LA” convinced me. You can purchase the compilation on in case you were wondering. Shout out to all my fam in LA…imma be out there soon.
Shash’U – LA
[audio:http://www.moovmnt.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/ShashU-LA-128-MOOVMNT.mp3]Shout out to Soulection for putting out some newness once again. This time it’s Grand Rapids resident Sango who releases his “Trust Me” EP. Now I gotta say straight from the bat that this release is not entirely our thing. However though, we were pleasantly suprised with Sango’s “Lovely” which we featured on our 2nd “Gimmering Fractions” mix as well.
Sango – Lovely
[audio:http://www.moovmnt.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Sango-Lovely-112-MOOVMNT.mp3]“Breathtaking sparkles, glimmering fractions. What melodical madness causes such satisfaction?”
Part two of our monthly “Glimering Fractions” mix is a fact. February’s birthstone is ‘Amethyst, which by Ancient Greeks was believed to protect the wearer against getting drunk. Had to leave out a few songs, so that’s why it came out 10 minutes shorter than expected. Hope you all dig it and if so be so kind to share it. It’s available for download on our Soundcloud page or you can stream it via Mixcloud as well.

I’m sure almost everybody here knows who SBTRKT is, but in case you don’t here’s the 411. Aaron Jerome aka SBTRKT began his career at Plastic People in London and has had a steadily growing fan-base eversince. For all these music fans, he decided to share a previously unreleased song from 2009. I can say without a doubt that “Atomic Peace” is one of the favorite musical treats I’ve heard so far from SBTRKT. Never really felt the need to post about this guy, but after having heard this I think it’s about time to do so.

A while ago we met up with Zed “Maddslinky” Bias at the Sound Gallery in Amsterdam. He was so kind to do a one hour mix for our Moovmnt Radio show filled with exclusives and sneak previews. If you like that UK Funky/Broken/Garage/Dubstep/Wonkey sound you’re in for a proper treat! Dave drops some fingerlickin’ tunes and we invite you to take a listen. Oh and for you Dutchies…this Friday Maddslinky will be playing at Rampage in Paradiso (Amsterdam).
Over a week ago we had the honor of playing with B.Bravo and TOKiMONSTA at the BCKWLD! event in Amsterdam. To give Amsterdam a small taste of what they’ve been missing out on in London, we intvited Red Bull Radio to record both their sets and we’re happy to share them with you. We also shot some nice video footage and asked both Cali residents about their RBMA adventures. Big shout out to Joao Costa for the camera work and editing.
Ya’ll know about TOKiMONSTA already, but in case you haven’t check out her live-set.
Buddy Bravo played a funked up set going from G-Funk to Dubstep. Check it out below..
