Last month we saw a tweet from Sa-Ra Creative Partners with the message ‘We’re Back!!’
Hopefully Om’Mas Keith, Shafiq Husayn & Taz Arnold will be blessing the world with some brand new music very very soon. Till then we thougth you might enjoy a Slept on Sundays comeback in the form of “Nasty Things“. A long forgotten track that deserves to get some more love.
So what if this would be THESTANDARD from now on? Four young fellas from St. Paul getting together on a project and dropping “Decisions” on the world…just like that. Gotta give it to Psymun, Spooky Black, Bobby Raps and Allan Kingdom for doing something so simple, but doing it so well. This sounds better than most of the music we hear daily. We’re keeping our ears onPsymun in particular who just released his Pink Label album!
Taylor McFerrin‘s second single of his upcoming “Early Riser” album features none other than the wonderful Emily King. The song is called “Decisions” and my word is this amazing?! If you loved the first single featuring Nai Palm, you are going to adore this one as well.
The way this project is unfolding is epic. No doubt that this album is going to off the freakin’ hook! Out June 3rd on Brainfeeder, get ready for it.
Henry Wu is a very talented producer from Peckham, South East London, by way of Taiwan. A few months ago he released an EP on 22a Recordings including the song “All Over” featuring Dziko aka Shepard Manyika on vocals and Mo Kolours on percussion. This was a limited vinyl only press and has completely sold out. Unfortunately the song is not due to come out digitally any time soon, so we asked Mr. Wu if we could share this with the world.
ChromadaData first popped on our radar when he dropped the talbox banger “Closer” last year. This young and extremely talented producer from Kansas City recently released a new album on Elestial Sound. Whether you’re into soulful melodic beats or straight up filthy funk…this is something you will want to own! Available in both digital format as well as on good ol’ vinyl.
One of Brooklyn’s finest, Taylor McFerrin, just blessed the world with “The Antidote”. An audible orgasms featuring Nai Palm of Hiatus Kaiyote. Pure crack if you ask us of his forthcoming album “Early Riser” on Brainfeeder. Watch out for that one May 3rd and until then just sit back and enjoy.
Yes sirr, South London-based (by way of Taiwan) producer Henry Wu came to our attention thanks to our buddy DJ Blue, who told us to check this guy out. The melodic house grooves sound on point so we deemed it necessary to share. Henry’s “Natural Complexion” single is out via XVI Records and available on Bandcamp, but make sure you check out his entire discography!
Camden Arc is M-Phazes his brand new side project, exploring new sounds and directions. I think it’s great that producers take time to focus on recreating themselves and getting back some passion again. For his debut release “I Don’t Wanna Fall in Love” he takes an original pop classic and blasts into the future. There’s lots of interesting new elements combined and I think Camden Arc is just getting started. By the way make sure you snatch up a free download! Get ready, cuz I think some game changers are coming our way later this year.
With joy we present to you “Various Assets: New York 2013” containing exclusive material that was made, during the Red Bull Music Academy, in four early summer weeks in New York City last year. The compilation contains a whopping thirty songs from 62 international participants and a cast of high-profile studio team members. Of course homeboy Dâm-Funk represents the Funk with the mindblower “No More Love”. Also feel free to discover music from August Rosenbaum, Jameszoo, Thundercat and a gang of other musicians for free. Mind you…download at your own risk!
Grooveman Spot just released a brand new slow jam called, “Distance”, featuring Marter. The single is a Japanase stepper and no doubt about love and seperation. Sounds like 2014 is going to be quite an interesting year especially in the land of the rising sun! Be on the look out for more of that smack to make you bounce.
