It is officially time for Belgian producer Adriaan van de Velde aka Pomrad to bewitch you all with his “Vlotjes” EP. This 23-year-old conservatory student is bringing an interesting mix of electronic and funk music to the table and is easily compared with people such as Hudson Mohawke. All I know is that this EP will certainly make a lot of noise and will be available today via and as a limited vinyl edtion (orders@oohwee.be) as well. Oh and make sure you take a look at Pomrad’s promotional video too…after the jump.

South East Asia is about to make some noise. Ya hear?! The fellas from Darker Than Wax and Goodnws have teamed up to compile the “Assembly Point”project. I’m pretty sure Saoul is the first one-man-do-it-all artists from Romania ever posted on the site. We received an email with the info that a few days ago his debut album “Autopilot” was released via Bandcamp. It’s a mix between smooth Soul, catchy pop and much more blends of genres. Not everything on there was made for our ears, but we definitely recognize some quality here!

The homie Buscrates is treating us to a super nice mix he recorded live at 720 Records in Pittsburgh to celebrate Herbie Hancock‘s 72nd birthday (on April 12th, so happy birthday Herbie!!). You can tell Orlando is a huge Herbie fan and I have to say this mix is just what we needed to hear today. So thank you Herbie for the music and Buscrates for selecting some of your favorites. Imma be honest…sometimes we miss the days of Sa-Ra Creative Partners. As I went through my HD, I came across this old song from Common and Sa-Ra entitled “So Cool”. This was a UK-only bonus track off Common’s “Be” album in 2005. Should’ve gotten a lot more attention if you ask me! Perfect Slept on Easter Sunday right? Enjoy the holidays..

Almost forgot about Kan Sano‘s “Bha” EP. Almost but not quite! After having put “Sweet Baby” featuring The Funkallero in our last “Glimmering Fractions” mix, how can I not tell you about his EP that came out yesterday? It sounds to me that Kan wanted to experiment a little on this EP, but you tell us what you think about it. It’s available on so take a gander for yourselves.

A few years ago we had a discussion about whether or not we should write about re-released/unreleased boogie records, like this Cyril “Will You Show Up” featuring Marcel Evans. In a way the record itself can be considered as new, but the music is from a different era perhaps. An era we happen to love and cherish, so hell yeah at times we think music like this needs to be heard by a generation that might have missed out on it. Thanks to Peoples Potential Unlimited for pressing this gorgeous song on 7″ vinyl. The song is from Cyril Walker’s forthcoming “Saturday Night” album, but sadly during the making of this record Cyril passed away (December 31, 2010). Rest in peace and may his funk inspire others. We needed a little extra time to digest this new Pomrad track featuring 9 year old Nelah, but came to the conclusion this needed to be shared. Last week we introduced this new producer hailing from the city of Antwerp. What can we say? This kid has the funk as proven on the instrumental song “Dans” (which means dance). The whole Moovmnt gang is now anxiously awaiting his “Vlotjes” EP coming out on OohWee Records May 11th.
