This time around we have producer duo Nangdo & Koen from Groningen, the high north of the Dutch low lands. You must have heard their music on the site in the past. If you haven’t, I suggest you get hip to it. Many thanks for supplying us with another free downloadable Moovmnt guest mix and shout out to Duktus as well.
You might have already heard a couple of singles of Eric Lau‘s brand new musical endeavour, “One of Many”. We wanted to wait until the right moment to post, because the rest of the album is freakishly good. This is one of the few times that the rest of the album is even better than what you’ve heard so far. London’s top ranked producer (Mr. Lau) teams up with top notch singers Tawiah, Rahel, Georgia Anne Muldrow and miss Fatima on his fourth full-lenght album. The result is some pure awesomeness and straight up quality all recorded at London’s Par-lé studios! Mind you…this masterpiece will be available on double vinyl for the real fans (of Eric and wax) and can already be pre-ordered on iTunes.
The weekend is here and thanks to DJ Azer from Belgium, we bring you part 5 of our Moovmnt Guest Mix series. Azer collected a gang of favorite songs that he’s had on heavy rotation on his weekly show available on Mixcloud. I bet you guys are going to dig this one a lot! Again we thank Duktus for coming through with the artwork.
Zo!‘s sophomore album entitled, “ManMade”, is finally here. As a part of the Foreign Exchange music family, he works closely together with Phonte, Sy Smith and Choklate on this release. Other featuring artists are Anthony David, Eric Roberson, 1-O.A.K, and miss Carlitta Durand. The album may sound a bit tradional at times, but all in all I think the title song and “We Are On The Move” make it well worth your while. Be sure to pick this up at the FE shop…if you decide to cop.
A few days ago Tall Black Guy‘s “8 Miles To Moenart” was released into the world. Terrel has been on our radar for quite some time, but I have to admit his latest album got lost in our mailbox. His inspiration for this project was (his hometown) Detroit with it’s rich musical heritage. Luckily I did manage to find it in our messy inbox and I’m glad I did. Like the song with Diggs Duke, but my fave has to be that “Funeral Biz”/”Weclome To Detroit” jawn! Available on limited edition vinyl, CD and in digital format at the First Word shop.
It is our pleasure to introduce Poland’s Hip Hop duo, DJ Czarny & Tas, who asked us to premiere “Dreaming At The Surface” featuring soul singer AB on vocals and Marek Pędziwiatr (Night Marks Electric Trio) on piano and flute. Check out a Moovmnt exclusive stream on our Soundcloud page and be on the look out for their upcoming album due June 7th!
Now I’ve had this lying around quite some time, but lost track of it I guess. Tokyo Dawn’s “The Heart” volume 3 is not their best compilation ever in my opinion, but worth mentioning at the least. Numbera’s “There I Go” featuring Frank Nitt was a good enough reason for a late write-up.
Mr. Terrel Wallace, better known as Tall Black Guy, has a new song out entitled “Mon Amie De’Troit” featuring Ozay Moore (formerly known as Othello). It paints a picture of Tall Black Guy’s hometown…Motown city. Delighted to hear Terrel has an album coming out soon entitled “8 Miles To Moenart”. We expect nothing but greatness there! Go ahead and pre-order your very own limited 7″ record over at the First Word Records Bandcamp page
Latinaotearoa is a latin funk & soul outfit from the land of the long white cloud, New Zealand. She consists of miss Jennifer Zea, Bobby Brazuka and our buddy Isaac Aesili. Have a listen to the last song, “Where The Heart Is…”, of their “Sonido de Latinaotearoa” album, produced by Isaac Aesili and with Steph Brown on piano.
Slum Village (in it’s new formation) returns with their new “Evolution” album in June. Now without Elzhi, we’re curious how that’s gonna sound. Listen to “Forever” and tell me this doesn’t take you back to memories of peace, prosperity and Hip Hop.
