Tokyo-based Ovall is spiritual jazz/hip hop band that kinda flew under our radar. The band consists of the following members: Shingo Suzuki (bass/keyboard), Mabanua (drums) and Shingo Sekiguchi (guitar). Their first, “Heart Fever” EP, fuses live instruments with the art of sampling to come out sounding quite interesting. We wanted to share this Slept on Sundays joint “Beautiful Love”, of their debut EP released on Origami Productions which is available on in case you were wondering.
Ovall – Beautiful Love
[audio:http://www.moovmnt.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Ovall-Beautiful-Love-MOOVMNT.mp3]Out of nowhere M-phazes drops this new Jean Grae song, “U & Me & Everyone, We Know”, on his Soundcloud of her upcoming album “Cake or Death”. Some intelligent Hip Hop with heavy Jazz influences…I like it. Keys by Damian Smith, bass by Sean Windsor, intro bass by Brady Watt, horns by B Free and produced by Melbourne’s very own M-phazes.

The first songs of Robert Glasper‘s upcoming “Black Radio” album set to release February 28th on Blue Note Records. I know quite some people who have been feenin’ for this one and so I am happy to be able to give you “Move Love” featuring King and “Afro Blue” featuring Erykah Badu. Doesn’t get any better than this if you ask me! Make sure you grab that free download at www.robertglasper.com and let us know how crazy this is. Am I the only one going nuts here?!?? Fuck this album is going to be bananas man. Props to Bamalovesoul for “Afro Blue”.

Now I never heard of Stan Smith before, but this newly discovered MC from Atlanta teamed up with Daz-I-Kue and they made an entire album together. DJ’s are gonna love this, because this funky debut album called “The Get Up Movement” contains some dancefloor party anthems fo sho. Really interesting album coming out later this month on Tokyo Dawn Records (available for pre-order).

Diggs Duke blew us away last year with his “Gravity” EP and when he emailed us he was doing a new project I was kinda excited at first. Then I heard some drafts of his “Black Gold” EP and was less impressed, for it was rather short and didn’t have that same killer vibe to it that Gravity had. Still I think you’ll enjoy the title cut and the good news is that the first 1200 people get a free download. You can either pay $0 or if you like, pay a little extra and show some love. Not a bad way to start out the new year..

The Moovmnt crew wishes a merry Christmas to each and everyone. This Slept on Sundays Santa is dedicated to a song that has been a big favorite of mine for a few years. It’s from Emanative and is called “When On Earth” (Rapson Remix). The original came out as a 7″ on Futuristica Music and later on the “Time” album in 2010. Please enjoy this wonderful day and we hope this piece of music will help make that day just a little bit better. In case you’d like to buy this as a present for youself head on over to and cop that.
Emanative – When On Earth (Rapson Remix)
[audio:http://www.moovmnt.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Emanative-When-On-Earth-Rapson-Remix-MOOVMNT.mp3]Our inbox was blessed by some soulful music from Diggs Duke who released his debut “Gravity” EP last week via bandcamp. My first thought was ‘where the heck has this guy been hiding’, but I soon realized it was in Maine. I’m sure we’re gonna be posting a lot more of his music in 2012! Good news…the first 200 downloaders can download this one for free by filling in a $0 price or you can also put down any other price you seem fit to support future projects. Diggs will be releasing another EP in a few months and is hoping to get a full-length album out there as well in the future (which I am sure he will be doing on some fortunate independent label). This is the perfect way to start you Monday..and a free download on our Soundcloud page especially for the people who missed out on Bandcamp!
Wow! Where has this guy Brandon Coleman been all my life? Here’s this incredible musician from Culver City California who released his “Self-Taught” album last month. Between that release and the music on his Myspace I declare the man a musical genius! Hoping to hear more of this guy in the future, because this is what music is all about. Don’t hesitate and grab yourself some Brandon Coleman music via iTunes..
Last year I received a promo copy of Freddie Cruger & Anthony Mills (Wildcookie) their “Cookie Dough” album to be released on Tru Thoughts February 22nd. I heard my favourite song of the album again today and thought why not share a low bitrate stream with you guys. It’s quite addictive and therefore suitably entitled “Heroine”. To listen to a few more sneak previews visit Wildcookies Bandcamp page.
