Seems like these end of the year staff picks are getting a little bit easier each year. Firstly because the amount of posts has gone down and secondly because we’ve become even more picky concerning the content of the site. A lot of you might be wondering what happened to the whole beats thing. Well, let’s just call it an evolving taste in music and let’s face it…there have only been a handful of cats that made something really worth mentioning. Credit to whomever credit is due!

Dear visitors,
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!
The time has come to moov forward. We have a lot of new ideas for the future, but without you we wouldn’t be where we are today. Not only would we like to get to know you a little better, we’d also like to gather more information about your wants and needs regarding the site. Now we rarely ask you for any favors and I think these 18 questions are not going to kill you. It will probably take 10 minutes of your time and 1 lucky person will be rewarded as well.
We’re giving away 1 Moovmnt t-shirt (available in sizes S-XXL), a couple of Moovmnt stickers and 1 record/CD of choice (max value 25 euro) from the Rush Hour shop. The main reason why we’re doing this survey is because we are finally going to launch a new site soon and we’re thinking about offering some extra services too. By the way this survey/contest ends on March 30th.
EDIT: Thank you all so much. Results are in and now we just have to process the data. A winner was picked randomly (congrats no. 114) and was just contacted. We’d love to see a picture of you in your Moovmnt tee, holding your prize 🙂
Another year has passed us by again. For the thrird time we’re gonna end the year with our very own ‘Best of 2011’. Together with Nevill and Deluge, I’ve picked out some of the finest music that was released this year. Many thanks to all our visitors and of course the artists out there making music that matters. We wish you a blessed 2012 with loads of great music and make sure you go out with a blast!!

Skymark – The Sound of Silence
This past Saturday we went to Plastic People and witnessed a classic Theo Parrish set from beginning to end. The night was even more special because it could be the last time Theo played at Plastic People. In case you haven’t heard it yet, the club is being threatened with closure by the city and police of London. If you’ve never been to Plastic People before you might wonder what all the fuzz is about. Plastic People is a place like none other, besides from being one of the birthplaces of several styles such as broken beat & dubstep, it’s a unique space in itself. The space is small and the dancefloor has no added lights other than those necessary such as those at the bar. This means you practically have a dark dancefloor where you can dance and enjoy the music the way you choose to. Plastic People also has a unique soundsystem that vibrates through the whole space. Theo Parrish said it’s probably the best sound installation in a small venue. To make a long story short, we need to unite to keep Plastic People from being closed. At the end of his set Theo gave a classic speech of which we were able to record a part, listening to this should give you an idea of the vibe of the night. If you haven’t already, sign the petition and help save Plastic People!
[audio:http://www.moovmnt.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/theoparrish_plasticpeople.mp3]To end the year properly, we came up with the idea to sum up 2009 and let ya’ll know what we thought was epic and who ya’ll slept on. We would like to thank you all for staying loyal to the movement called Moovmnt and 2010 has a lot of newness in store for you. Our brand new website will launch early Januari, the Moovmnt Sampler releases will be dropping like hotcakes and Moovmnt TV is coming up.
Our Belgian homeboy Azer did a 2009 mix and it goes hard as you might guess. It’s a selection of some of his favorite tracks released in 2009. It was broadcasted on December 30, 2009 in the Laid Back Show on FM Brussel. Happy new year and see you on the flipside.

You might have noticed that Moovmnt was nowhere to be found or looked like shit the past week. Unfortunately we were attacked by malware which has caused some serious downtime for the site. Thanks to our brother Tetsuo from Nutriot, we’re back in business! Sad to say we’ve lost our uploads folder which results in a massive number of posts that aren’t working properly now. The next couple of weeks we’ll be working day and night to get everything up and running like it was and rest assure we’ll be picking up exactly where we left off. Thanks everybody for showing love and support. We’ve had countless messages from people who said they were praying for us.
We’d like to let everybody know that Moovmnt is currently undergoing some changes. We are moving to a new, better, bigger server just so we can offer even more dope music, fresh mixtapes and much more. Downloads will probably not be working for the next couple of days. Please bare with us and come back in a couple of days. Everything should be working fine!
2008 is begonnen, en in 2008 begint the movement on some real shit.
