Been keeping an ear out for Slakah the Beatchild‘s “Soul Movement” Vol. 2, but it seems that it might be an early 2014 release. No need to be sad, because Slakah was nice enough to put some bonus tracks online to hold us over. In the meanwhile make sure you check out all five and pre-order at will.
Confession. Before the release of The Internet’s “Feel Good” album, I had never heard of Inglewood’s Tay Walker. Tay is one of the band members and recently released a solo project (yay for the free download) called “Tay Walker” EP. As a lover of sexy soulful music, we thought you deserved some of that “Dear Love” music in case you find yourself in one of those sexy moments. Get ya freak on..
New Zealand’s leading lady of future soul music is back with another album entitled “Automatic”. When we heard that Ladi6 was going to be working with Waajeed on this project, we knew it was gonna sound tight. Check out the album on Bandcamp if you wanna know what D & NZ sound like together.
Sorry for the long break, but lately posting just a few times a week has been really working for us. Perhaps a bit less for you guys, don’t worry…we’re not about to quit on y0u. Came across this nice new jawn from the lovely couple Malice & Mario Sweet entitled “Jawn Travoltuh”. Straight of their “Enjoy:Like:Love” project and produced by Tall Black Guy. Sounds like the sweetest caramal fudge version of Saturday Night Fever. Enjoy..Like..Love!
Very pleased to let y’all know that Terrace Martin‘s brand new “3ChordFold” is out! Now here’s a wonderful mix between Hip Hop, Jazz and Soul all blending perfectly into one. Together with musicians like Robert Glasper, James Fauntleroy, Lalah Hathaway and Musiq Soulchild Martin makes this into a winner. Other featuring artists such as Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifa make it more accessible for a younger generation of music fans. A few of my fav’s are “Over Time” featuring Musiq, “Angel”, “Gone” with Robert Glasper & Casey Benjamin and “Triangle Ship” featuring Kendrick Lamar.
Bobby V was born Bobby Wilson in Mississippi, but grew up in Atlanta. The smooth R&B crooner (formerly known as Bobby Valentino) hooked up with the Organized Noize Productions team at the age of 16 and later on recorded with the likes of Timbaland and Raphael Saadiq. Bobby went on to become a billboard artist, releasing albums on different major record labels. His latest slick jawn is entitled “Back To Love” and is a summer smash that deserves a listen (or two). Available for purchase on iTunes by the way.
After a seven year hiatus, Omar is back with “The Man”. A very solid Soul album if you ask us with quite the collection of gems on it. Of course you already heard a Shafiq Husayn remix and a brand new version of “There’s Nothing Like This” with Pino Palladino on bass. We picked “Fuck War, Make Love” to get you in the mood for this funky piece of art, out now on Freestyle Records. Make sure to purchase your copy if you dig!
You might have already heard a couple of singles of Eric Lau‘s brand new musical endeavour, “One of Many”. We wanted to wait until the right moment to post, because the rest of the album is freakishly good. This is one of the few times that the rest of the album is even better than what you’ve heard so far. London’s top ranked producer (Mr. Lau) teams up with top notch singers Tawiah, Rahel, Georgia Anne Muldrow and miss Fatima on his fourth full-lenght album. The result is some pure awesomeness and straight up quality all recorded at London’s Par-lé studios! Mind you…this masterpiece will be available on double vinyl for the real fans (of Eric and wax) and can already be pre-ordered on iTunes.
Bulgarian Soul singer Ruth Koleva has been working on her new album with Dutch producer/keyboardist Seravince. The first single of their project is entitled “Better” and has Richard Spaven on drums and the warm vocals of Sharlene Hector on backing. Gary Nurse from the UK produced the video, so we suggest you get to know Ruth a bit better. Her single is available worldwide on iTunes, so make your move.
