You might have noticed that José James is getting ready to release his new album While You Were Sleeping June 10 on Blue Note Records. The first single “EveryLittleThing” made us worry a bit, but thankfully the second single “U r the 1” sounds quite soulful. Really like the minimalistic vibe that puts the accent on the drums (give the drummer sum). Pre-order on iTunes if you like.
We’ve been following miss Fatima closely for many years now and have been down with her since her very first release on Eglo Records. I remember, one late night at the Red Bull Music Academy in London 2010, buying her Mindtravelin EP of her which she signed. Many years later we welcome her debut full-length album called Yellow Memories which has released today! With some of our favorite producers at her side (such as fLako, Floating Points and Oh No) this release was a sure win months ago. We’d like you to meet Neo-Soul/Jazz singer Joanna Borromeo from Calgary. Her album “Kaleidoscope” was nominated in the 2014 Juno Awards for ‘R&B/Soul Recording of the Year’ and her latest collaboration, entitled “Sun Come In“, with Häzel is straight butta! A few months ago I missed the boat on Alfa & Emmavie‘s debut “Epoch” EP, but better late then never right?! It’s been sitting in my inbox for the past week and after another listen I decided this deserves some attention. For some reason it’s available for free download, but honestly this is way too good not to pay for! A lot more soulful music from the UK has been getting my attention lately, but let’s face it…London has always been a fertile breeding ground for musical talent. Have to shout out DJ Blue and Flava Dré for this one.
Henry Wu is a very talented producer from Peckham, South East London, by way of Taiwan. A few months ago he released an EP on 22a Recordings including the song “All Over” featuring Dziko aka Shepard Manyika on vocals and Mo Kolours on percussion. This was a limited vinyl only press and has completely sold out. Unfortunately the song is not due to come out digitally any time soon, so we asked Mr. Wu if we could share this with the world.

Meet 19 year old electric neo soul singer/songwriter/producer LeXuS. She began writing and producing at the early age of 9 and decided to take her vocal talents to the next level at the age of 15. She started experimenting with MAGIX & Mixcraft software and voice memos recording small snippets. Looking for a sound of her very own. She soon graduated to recording herself which lead to the release of her first project “Nostalgia”. Her most recent release is the “After Ours: A Love Story” mixtape (free download) featuring productions from Giorgio Oehlers, Elaquent and Evil Needle. This young lady has a unique refreshing style of her own and we think she has a lot of potential. A little rough around the edges, but very talented!
