One of the many things we learned from our survey is that quite a few visitors would love more high quality downloads. It’s no coincidence that our DJ buddies have been nagging us about this Slakah The Beatchild song for the past weeks. We hit up Slakah and he decided to give away a DJ pack of “Wanna Do” including an instrumental and acapella version (in WAV format) as a free download. We’re getting ready for “Soul Movements” Vol. 2 to hit the streets this summer.

Hiatus Kaiyote is a band of Melbourne’s underground. The group consists of singer Nai Palm, keyboardist Simon Mavin, bass player Paul Bender and drummer Perrin Moss. Their sound is best described as futuristic live soul music, which at times contains a little mysterious and magical twist. Their debut album is entitled “Tawk Tomahawk” and released earlier this month. It’s available on their Bandcamp page, so get ta steppin’.

For the past month I’ve been wondering about what Conya Doss‘ new “A Pocketful of Purpose” album would sound like. Six years ago I thought “Love Rain Down” was kinda nice and I remember bumping some of those songs from time to time. After having skimmed through her new album, I came to the conclusion it doesn’t sound very 2012 at all. There are a couple of nice soulful R&B joints on there, but nothing I might have been expecting a little more after all these years. So after having had “Conversations With Her” Mar steps his game up a notch and is now “Seeing Her Naked”. The real question here is, who is this mysterious ‘her’ that Mar sings about time after time? His latest “Seeing Her Naked” EP contains five songs and was co-produced by FS Green and Full Crate. Photography was done by Angela Tellier, while Deluge took care of the of the design. I’m pretty sure Saoul is the first one-man-do-it-all artists from Romania ever posted on the site. We received an email with the info that a few days ago his debut album “Autopilot” was released via Bandcamp. It’s a mix between smooth Soul, catchy pop and much more blends of genres. Not everything on there was made for our ears, but we definitely recognize some quality here!

Now there’s a few songs on there with fellow Canadian Slakah The Beatchild and “No Matter What” is definitely a slept on gem. Just when it seemed as if Jesse Boykins III was losing a little of his soulfness, he teams up with homeboy Full Crate to find it back once again in the form of “See With Me”. By the way in case you were wondering…it’s Brian Elstak who’s responsible for the painting used for the artwork. This one is being released through Kilawatt Music and is available digitally on right now.

The homie Buscrates is treating us to a super nice mix he recorded live at 720 Records in Pittsburgh to celebrate Herbie Hancock‘s 72nd birthday (on April 12th, so happy birthday Herbie!!). Oh dear, how could we almost forget about Scratcha DVA‘s “Pretty Ugly” album? It was released last month on Hyperdub Records and kind of slipped our ears so to speak.
