Last year we already informed you this guy Brenk cooks up one killer Gumbo! This Austrian heayweight beatchampion has produced for the likes of Guilty Simpson, MC Eiht and Miles Bonny. He introduces his protegee, the Italian beatmaker Fid Mella, with this cats like Kev Brown and EdO G.

Enough with the name calling already…these cats are just on sum next shit. Melting Pot is starting pre-sale in two weeks, but in the meantime they were so nice to share this with us. For those that don’t know…Arthur Verocai is composer/arranger from Brasil. He has worked with giants as Jorge Ben, Gal Costa and Leny Andrade, but hiphop heads know him for his often sampled (by Ludacris, MF Doom and Little Brother) self-titled solo album. The album came out at the height of the Brasilian dictatorship and was a commercial failure. According to Verocai, he had never played the record, “alive or dead”! His delight at the opportunity to play this music in its complete form can be seen on the Timeless DVD box set (which is f*cking amazing).

This song, “Flying to L.A.” was written specifically for the concert at the Luckman. It starts with open drums by Mamao from the famed Brasilian trio Azymuth, and then goes on a beautiful harmonic journey. Massive props to VTech and Mochilla for this beautiful initiative.

When miss Fatima (Eglo Fam) was in Rotterdam last year, I asked her which female vocalists she really liked. She told me that her half sister (who she met at a very late stage in her life) turned out to be a fantastic singer. I thought she was pulling my chain, but the plot thickens. Young Swedish Seinabo is actually a very dope vocalist and she’s getting ready to dazzle the world. Hopefully we can expect that new OliverDaySoul project with Oddisee very soon, cuz we heard a little sumthin’ and it sounded very promising.

Eventhough today is April Fools’ the following is no joke. Shoe brand Dr. Martens celebrates it’s 50-year-anniversary and for this special occasion the brand asked ten modern-day producers to remake a cult classic in their own style. All tracks come with a videoclip and man is this one crazy! FREE download of course..

Whilst cruisin’ the web, I came across this live footage of Dam-Funk‘s “Killdat” with the entire Master Blazter crew. Now this is what we’ve been wanting to see! Some live ass shit with Computer Jay on the keys, J1 on the drums and homegirl JIMIJAMES on the vocals. Bring that shit over to Amsterdam my friends…we’re ready for that ish!!

This is truly one of the ones to watch! “To Have & To Hold” is a vinyl inspired documentary or musicmentory. Director Jony Lyle gives us a brief teaser of this upcoming film in celebration of the age of vinyl records.”

Loads of rooms filled with records, huge music collections, archive footage and even a peak in a pressing plant. The movie is scheduled to be released later this year so all you addicts better get those fingers dusty. It features interviews with notable vinyl aficionados as Questlove, Chuck D, Bobbito Garcia, DJ Amir, Bruce Lundvall, Christian Marclay, and Paul Mawhinney. Shout out to Cratekings for this one.
