Our buddy Mr. Speak was kind enough to get us hip to the collective known as Snarky Puppy. Check out a video of their song “Something” performed live with miss Lalah Hathaway.
Multi-talent Mark de Clive-Lowe is currently raising funds to record and release his 11th (!) studio album “CHURCH”. Taking the concept from his popular clubnight by the same name, the album will find him collaborating with a variety of contemporary artists from jazz musicians to hip-hop greats.
To accompany the campaign, MdCL started a brand new video series of one take solo performances displaying the essence of his live process. I’m proud to premiere the latest in the series, in which Mark creates an uptempo broken beat influenced track from scratch. Make sure to check out the Kickstarter campaign which runs until Tuesday November 12th!
Bulgarian Soul singer Ruth Koleva has been working on her new album with Dutch producer/keyboardist Seravince. The first single of their project is entitled “Better” and has Richard Spaven on drums and the warm vocals of Sharlene Hector on backing. Gary Nurse from the UK produced the video, so we suggest you get to know Ruth a bit better. Her single is available worldwide on iTunes, so make your move.
D’Angelo and Questlove held an intimate jam session at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl for the ‘Soulquarians: “Brothers In Arms” yesterday. At the end of the show D’Angelo officially announced that he almost finished his upcoming album.
Time to congratulate Vince aka Seravince with his debut “Perfect Stranger” video. You all must have heard the song featuring Renee Neufville, but now you can also enjoy the visual translation from British director Gary Nurse. The fusion of music and dance has always been important to Vince, so it was only natural for him to see these two art forms combined in his video.
“Hear To See” is available worldwide in both digital form and on Compact Disc. It is being distributed worldwide by Fat Beats and exclusively in Japan by P-Vine. So don’t hesitate to ask your local record shop what the deal is. For all the digital freaks, get ya freak on over at iTunes and make sure you share with anyone who you think should be watching this video!
Earlier today the whole band was rehearsing for tonight. Sorry that a lot of you are going to miss out on this, but for those in the Netherlands please feel free to hop on through. The place to be tonight is Seravince‘s “Hear To See” album launch at the Bitterzoet! See ya’ll at 8pm..
Earlier this week I sent out an email requesting a promo copy of Bilal‘s upcoming “A Love Surreal” album. Hope to wrap my ears around this one soon, but in the meanwhile peep this introductional video directed by Hans Elder. This hold you guys down untill the 26th of February right?
C’mon fill me up, I need more in my cup! It was a few years ago already that Chris Turner popped up on our radar. He provided us with some of that “LiquidLOVE” back then and has now returned with some tasty New School footage to go with the audible love. Enjoy the video and get ready for spring!
I always tell myself ‘post more video’s’, but for some reason I get lazy when it comes to this. Today I decided to share the Sexxxy new video from Maseratay. Fast cars and good lookin’ women are never a bad thing to look at, while listening to some of awesome Modern Funk music at the same time…right?
Last month we met up with Richard Spaven at Seravince‘s Flowriders studio in Amsterdam, while he was putting the finishing touches to his yet to be released album.
We asked him a few things for our new “In The Pocket” series which is, as you might have guessed, all about the drummer. Tomorrow we’ll bring you up to speed regarding The Sure Co. project, but for now sit back and press play.
Expect the second video of the series (with Jamire Williams) to drop very around the holidays. Much thanks to Joao Costa for the cut & edit!
