So with Swarvy‘s debut “Scotch” album finally out, we now bring you wonderful news of Devonwho‘s amazing flip of “Carried Away”.
Last week we premiered “Kittylitter”, but this trust me when I say this album packs a lot of extra delicious grooves. Now it’s only right we do another post on this wonderful Swarvy release, for the simple fact that the Devonwho flip of “Carried Away” is astounding. Almost equally great is Mndsgn’s remix of the track “Scotchious”. Like I said before, best to purchase the limited edition vinyl if you’re into good music. If you are all you need to do is visit the Feelin’ Music shop.
Hello world. Meet Turkish delight Kerem Akdag from the city of Istanbul.
He specializes in soulful low-slung beats and slow house grooves, which he creates mostly in the comfort of his own home. Kerem Akdag was playing drums and a little bit of guitar before he got into making music in high school. Muscially he was inspired by Stevie Wonder, Jeremy Sylvester and the legendary J Dilla.
Kerem Akdag signed to Darker Than Wax earlier this year and is ready to show his Hip Hop/Soul side he says in an interview with Underground EU. Also watch out for more new music coming out in 2015.
Earlier this month I saw that Polish duo Flirtini had released part two of “Heartbreaks & Promises” via Asfalt Records. And good news my friends…it is time for a new chapter.
For this impressive compilation they have collected some beat love stories made by talented producers from all over the world. The album features previously unreleased material from Jarreau Vandal, Klaves, Spisek Jednego, IAMNOBODI, Losco, Chloe Martini, LA-NO & Jaël, Losco, SNDWVS and many more. We picked out two favs and urge you to listen to the rest of Heartbreaks & Promises asap.
In total there’s 17 heartbreaks and 17 promises to enjoy. All bundled on one action-packed double CD. Head on over to the Asfalt shop and cop right now.
Upon hearing the first few seconds of Swarvy‘s tremendous track “Carried Away” (freebie alert) this week, we knew we had to get a hold of his forthcoming album as soon as possible.
We have no trouble at all calling this guy Philadelphia’s best kept secret. For this musician slash genius delivers nothing but craziness on his “Scotch” album. For Swarvy’s official debut venture, he links up with bassist Jerry Thompson III and band mate Ryan McKenney. Everything on here is original, sample-free music with heavy 70’s Jazz and Funk influences. FYI..it will be released tomorrow on Chief’s Feelin’ Music imprint.
We’re super excited to exclusive premiere the first track of the album entitled “Kittylitter”. Pre-order now and don’t sleep on the limited (300 copies) vinyl version, which comes with a download card. As if this wasn’t enough, the album contains mind-blowing remixes by MNDSGN (Stones Throw) and Devonwho (All City).
Ever since we came in contact with Hiatus Kaiyote‘s music, we were hooked! Back in 2012 wrote a little piece on their debut “Tawk Tomahawk” album.
With anticipation we have all waited for years in the hope the mighty band out of Melbourne would one day return. To my great surprise, Red Bull premiered the band’s “By Fire” EP earlier today with amazing artwork by James ‘Laneous’ Lane. In an enlightening interview with Nai Palm we can read that the title track is essentially a burial song for her father, who died in a house fire.
The EP is slated for official release December 2nd and it’s a taste of what is to come next year. Hiatus Kaiyote’s sophomore album, “Choose Your Weapon”, is what I call the perfect birthday present! It is said to come out on in March on Flying Buddha/Sony Music Masterworks and I for one can hardly wait.
Been keeping an eye out for the gorgeous miss Maïa for a while now and I believe it’s time to tell you all what’s up.
The young vocalist from Brisbane is on some nu-neo low-fi soul type of sh*t and her latest track, “Life Is A Lie“, is out for your enjoyment. The song was produced by Intrnet and tells the tale of self-discovery. The production is what we would expect, titty tight! Miss Maïa’s style of crooning takes a little getting used to, but I’m pretty sure we will be hearing more from this beautiful young lady.
Now get your ass over to Soundcloud and start following Maïa now!
Marcellus Pittman is another one of those intensely dope DJ’s from Detroit, who also happen to be one hell of a producer. After Theo Parrish, Moodymann, Rick Wilhite and Kyle Hall it is now Marcellus Pittman’s duty to rep the D.
The track “1044 Coplin” (Give You Whatcha Lookin 4) is a straight Modern Funk banger on Unirhythm. This nice slice of mid west Boogie is sure to appeal to all the Funk heads worldwide. The flipside of this 7-inch contains another Detroit resident, John Cannon, who is a veteran producer and MC. He most recently featured on the J Dilla album ‘Rebirth Of Detroit.’ The D is definitely representin’.
Now here’s one of those records I’m thinking about buying before it vanishes. Get your vinyl copy of Marcellus Pittman’s record now at Clone (Rotterdam), Bleep (London) or Amoeba (USA).
We’ve been collaborating with French label Cosmonostro for a while now and it’s proven to be a long term friendship. The label ran by 96 is putting out something for everyone and we are glad to be in the position of picking out a cherry every now and again.
The Planets Episode 3: Venus Society is a 6-track planetarial mini-compilation suite. It contains music inspired by Holst (who composed the non-symphonic & orchestral suite The Planets a century ago. Perhaps you might be more familiar with Tomita’s synthesizer-heavy version from ’76. The aim of this project is not to adapt, re-interpret or sample Holst or Tomita’s work, but to pay homage and remembrance in our their unique way.
18-year-old French producer Grillz from Lyon delivers a fresh track called “Flesh” with soothing vocals and laid back guitar. Catch the exclusive premiere on our Soundcloud page and show some love by liking, reposting, commenting or pre-ordering right here.

Back in April Jesse Boykins III released his “Love Apparatus” album. Who would have thought a deluxe edition was to follow seven months later?
As you might know most of the songs on the original “Love Apparatus” album were produced by Machinedrum with some additional contributions from Hadyn and Chad Beatz. Jesse Boykins’ style of Soul (if you will) is far beyond neo or future.
On this deluxe edition he proves that once more by calling in the help of contemporary producers such as starRo, Nadastrom, Bodhi, Soft Glas, Ruckazoid and more. Add two fresh bonus tracks and you have a very good reason to drop $12 on iTunes (in case you didn’t get the original album earlier). Follow sir JB3 on Soundcloud and listen to some of the remixes there.
