Now I’m guessing that most of you already know who Pomo is, but in case you’ve been under a rock this year let us go into details. Pomo is a Canadian producer from Toronto who is part of the notorious HW&W collective out of Los Angeles.
Pomo has the same management as Kaytranada, Sango and Stwo and has a bright future ahead of him. Musically he is into Prince, Dilla and Disclosure, but the music he makes is best described as Electronic Disco Funk. Lots of sunny melodies, lush bass and booty shakin’ grooves are the ingredients that define Pomo’s style.
His debut EP, “The Other Day“, features eight killers and no fillers. Not only is this perfect to listen to at home. It’s also highly suitable for any confident DJ to pump at high volume in the club. Available on iTunes or Spotify so pick your poison.
One of the most interesting Dutch producers I have encountered this year is Trian Kayhatu. He is without a doubt one of the funkiest motherfunkers in the low lands.
His brand new “Suture” EP is out on Darker Than Wax and it contains a few missiles. You might remember we premiered “Red Onion White Garlic” a while back, but we had to let ya’ll know what the deal. Really down with the laid back remix that London-based label mate Sh?m did for Trian’s track “Hym”. Frankly, this whole release is four out of four and spot on! Selamat Trian Kayhatu on the release of your EP and turning really really old today.
Dig in those digital pockets, raid your Paypal and spend a few bucks on what we call quality music from the heart.
Miss Rochelle Jordan aka Rojo is going straight to the top with her newly released debut album called “1021“. Not only do these mysterious digits form her birthday, it also tells the story Rojo has been through.
The ultra talented singer from Toronto has been making quite the noise this year, but finally everything came together with an official release. As usual KLSH is making magic happen on the productional side of things. Rochelle Jordan’s music is, as always about love, relationships and everything in between. One of our favorite songs is “401”, but the whole album is quite tasty as a matter of fact. Please enjoy another cut of her album “There You Go” and make sure you stream the entire thing on Rojo’s Soundcloud page.
Get ready for some good ol’ nineties R&B in a slightly renewed package. The album officially released on her own website last week and is available as an autographed CD plus MP3 bundle. Of course you can also head over to iTunes for your digital needs.
Last week we introduced you to Émile Sacré who is also known as VECT. Besides being a great producer, this multi-talented genius from Toulouse is an incredibly skilled art director who illustrates and animates the most amazing videos.
Yesterday I put two and two together and realized the artwork/logo for Claude’s recent release was VECT’s handy work. His modus operandi is to create the music first. Then he creates the whole visual identity with mostly illustrations. Being producer and artistic director at the same time, allows VECT to create a coherent universe in which sound and visuals perfectly flow into one.
The track “Between Two Palms” is the first song of VECT’s forthcoming EP on the French Cosmonostro label. It is a dynamic production punctuated by percussion influenced by Trap music, a melodic Soul loop and an R&B-like repetitive voice. See this as the perfect way to ease into the journey that is called “Kent Bimaga“. Pre-orders are available now and on November 17th the EP sees it’s official release.
This brand new Tuxedo video right here is both classy and sassy. The duo, consisting of Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One, dropped three smoking hot tracks last year, but the identity of the group was never actually confirmed.
In the video for “Do It” we meet a graceful valet, that gets tired of parking cars and decides to throw his hair back and audition for the Tuxedo video shoot. Seriously this guy has crazy moves! If you weren’t already fan of Tuxedo’s heavy Funk sound, I’m sure you will be after seeing this hilarious video.
Stones Throw has yet to confirm, but they write a full album can be expected in 2015. Until then, stay classy.
Good morning everyone, or evening depending on which part of the globe you reside. We’d like you to take a listen to Sarah White from Minneapolis. This young lady very recently collaborated with hometown producer M¥K to give you this brand new and steamy version of here previously released song “Create Found“.
The vibe kind of reminds me of J’Davey, but perhaps this sound a bit more raw and nasty. One thing is for sure miss Sarah White knows exactly how we like it! After having heard this song you will most likely want to get your groove on thanks to these dirty deep synthesized vibrations.
When we first heard about Grown Kids Radio‘s “Off The Beaten Tracks” initiative, we got excited about contemporary artists being able to once again leave behind a piece of their legacy on vinyl.
The project will manifest itself in the form of a limited edition vinyl EP packed with seven future classic cuts. It features an eclectic roster of musicians and an amazing custom record sleeve by visual artist Aaron De La Cruz.
Off The Beaten Tracks contains previously unreleased music from Hawthorne Headhunters, Starship Connection, Ohmega Watts, The Pendletons, Miles Bonny and B. Lewis. It is with great pleasure that we exclusively premiere the club banger “In The Trunk” from the Bayside boys B. Bravo and Teeko.
With your support, Grown Kids Radio hopes to breathe some fresh new life into the vinyl tradition. Please support this project, check out the all artists and show some love for this great enterprise.
The yung homie Tek.lun from Baltimore, Maryland made his debut guest appearance on the very first HW&W compilation. Earlier this year his “Ridin’ Round” beat tape was released and it sounds iller than ill. It was made to bump in your whip late night, driving around smoking some of that sticky icky stuff.
It is with pleasure that we welcome the return of Tek.lun in the form of “The GreenBox” EP. On it he calls in a little help from the newest addition to team Huh What And Where, who goes by the name of Gravez. This release consists of four dope tracks for your listening pleasure. And good news! They have all been made available for free download, so start pushing some buttons!
Panes is a name that’s new to us, but perhaps you are familiar with the duo. Tyson McVey is a vocalist from London who now studies at UCL. Shaun Savage is a recording engineer whose credits include artists such as Factory Floor and 2.54.
Earlier this year they released their debut EP on Norwegian label Smalltown Supersound’s new subsidiary Brown Rice. Now, to accompany Autumn/Winter support slots with kindred spirits Kelela and East India Youth, they are releasing “Stills” with handpicked remixes by their favorite producers; Visionist, Sivey and Eyedress. Since we are huge fans or Sivey‘s music, we had to share his Funk-influenced remix with you all.
The Austrian-based label Pusic Records released two EP’s last year and a double EP. Right before Christmas they return with a four track release by various artists.
Pusic Records 005 starts off with a rugged yet soulful House track from Box aus Holz family member IMYRMIND. The track “Keep On Slingin” is ample proof that this dope producer does not only produce fire with Glenn Astro, but is a beast on the solo tip too. Other producers on this EP include Saine from Helsinki, the Dutch duo Fouk (Daniel Leseman & Junktion) and a producer from Italy called Giovanni Damico who did an amazing job on “Break“.
Make sure to ask Santa for the 12” vinyl. It’ll be out December 14th which is just in time for him to order a few copies.
