Very very very happy to hear so many Funk bangers coming out of camp Salva this week. His collaboration “I Could Be” with B. Bravo and Rojai was straight crackin’, but man it just keeps getting better and better!

His “Peacemaker” mixtape released earlier this week and features Young Thug, Schoolboy Q, ASAP Ferg, Kurupt, E-40, Freddie Gibbs and more big names. It’s available for free download as of now, so grab that asap. First track on there is another slap of Funk in your face. Salva is “Freaking U” together with Starship Connection (B. Bravo & Teeko) and it’s so damn sexy. Good to hear so much California G-Funk from my mens.

Follow Salva on Soundcloud in case you weren’t doing so yet.

Now we’ve all heard of auto-tune rapper T-Pain, but who knew he was such a skilled singer. Makes you wonder why he doesn’t throw out the gimmick right this instant.

Given that it has brought him to where he is at the moment. Lets be honest though…al this guy needs is a Fender rhodes and a microphone. T-Pain’s Tiny Desk concert on NPR is nothing short from amazing I tell you! They asked him if he would be kind enough to grace the Tiny Desk without any embellishment or effects to show what’s really made his career: his voice. He performs three songs that sound so different, yet beautiful to us.

Set list:
“Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin’)”
“Up Down (Do This All Day)”
“Drankin’ Patna”

Donnie Mozaic from Grand Rapids Michigan has been producing for a minute, but with the track “Late Night” he really caught our attention.

He has collaborated with J Rawls, Young RJ (Slum Village), Rapper Big Pooh and produces for The Action Figures. Mozaic drops his “I-95” album on the world which dives into his journey of 2014. From heartbreak, to finding new love, to failures and accomplishments. He combined those experiences and created a soundtrack real people relate to.

As a part of the AGO family, we see a bright future ahead and for just $1 you can purchase nineteen beats.

JTRP consists of two guys, Jorge Takei & Phillip ‘Robophil’ Morris, from Cologne Germany who have been making music as a duo for a while now.

They started out making a few bass heavy releases on T. William’s Deep Teknologi imprint. Followed by several sidekicks in Belgium, UK and finally landing closer to home on Beef from Prague. JTRP’s debut 4-track EP entitled ‘You And Me‘ on Beef is mix between techno and acid house. But when you have Glenn Astro on the remix…man it just adds a so much additional flavor! Anything this producer from Tartelet/Box aus Holz touches turns to liquid crack.

Shout out to Michal from Beef for letting us premiere Glenn Astro’s remix of “You And Me”. You need to get the 12-inch vinyl that will be available November 10th.

The homie Paulie Salva from San Francisco, moved to Los Angeles a few years ago and he has blown out of proportion ever since.

Salva is about to release “Peacemaker”, a 13-track mixtape that features big names like Young Thug, A$AP Ferg, Schoolboy Q, Freddie Gibbs, Problem and more. Instead of electronic music, like we heard on his debut “Complex Housing” album, the focus at the moment is on Hip Hop music. For his new track “I Could Be” Salva called in the help out Bay brothers B. Bravo and Rojai. Both are my dudes and I’m so happy they can share Paul’s succes. Jairo’s raspy voice sounds superb on this cut and sexes it right up! Adam’s funk-influences make this a perfect late night lounge and Rome Fortune is on point with the rhymes.

Looking forward to more of this California sexy oh and thanks to Mixmag for premiering this one!

Lately I have been searching for new talent a little closer to home. Right before the weekend I came across 18 year old Jengi Beats (Jan Berendsen) from the Dutch city of Den Bosch.

He has been crafting beats since high school and went to the Dutch Pop Academy (NLPA) in Utrecht. He is currently building on his own Koninkrijk Van Muziek label, which roughly translates into kingdom of music. Jengi has won several remix contests and thanks to various radio shows, that picked up his music, he is gaining international recognition. Our favorite track is “Carrot Juice“, but also check out his latest music. Some nice freebies available for free download!

We are working on a fresh new project where we put a spotlight on talented Dutch producers. More info on this soon, but rest assured that young Jengi Beats will be a part of this.

Erik Tagg’s obscure album “Rendez Vous” is one of those albums you don’t come across much. I guess at times I’m a lucky bastard, for I have found two copies of this wonderful LP. And get this at the same record shop.

One of my favorite record stores is located just a few blocks from where I grew up and I remember visiting it first at the age of fifteen. As a youngster my knowledge of records was not what it is now…almost two decades later. The small shop is ran by a guy called Erik (is this a coincidence or what?), who has been the nicest guy for almost twenty years.
The shops basement once housed over twenty-thousand records, but throughout the years numbers have decreased. A few years back Erik was cleaning up the basement and I helped him alphabetize a couple of thousand records. Of course I came up with more one great finds, most memorable being a copuple Erik Tagg or Eric Tagg albums.

Erik Tagg was born in Illinois and began his musical career in the Netherlands as band member of Beehive (1973-1974) and Rainbow Train (1975-1979). During the 1980’s he worked with Lee Ritenour. His Rendez Vous album on Poker is not only a rare find. It contains “Got To Be Lovin’ You”, which is one of my favorite AOR songs. His blue eyed soul was recognized worldwide and in 2001 Zafsmusic and Mark Goodvibes Taylor licensed the previously unreleased track “Living Off The Love” for the compilation album Americana: Rock Your Soul – Blue Eyed Soul And Sounds From The Land Of The Free.

Sorry it took me almost two years to do a follow up Random Record Rants post. I realize this is a great way for some of you to get to know me a little better and I truly hope you will dig the records I’m sharing here.

Little miss SIAM from Ghent, Belgium heard our souls shout. It kept begging for more new music and our prayers have been finally answered.

SIAM, who goes by the name Isolde in every day life, is one of the most promising vocal artists out of Belgium to blessed our ears this year. She studies Jazz at the conservatory of Tilburg and amazed us with her debut solo release “Same Thing“. SIAM’s brand new sophomore single entitled “Paradise” was also produced by Faisal and has an electronic feel to it. Gotta mention Meindert Peirens for supplying the artwork and Emilio who was responsible for mixing and mastering.

Enjoy and don’t forget to show some love. Follow, share and repost at will.

Now you might be familiar with the name Matt Martians (yet). Perhaps you have heard of a band called The Internet. Does that ring a bell? Oh it does huh?!

Well Matt Martians is the genius behind their music and together with Bobby Earth on vocals, Jameel Bruner on keys and Steve Lacy on bass he dropped the outstanding track “I Kno U Kno“. Enjoy an amazing display of Future Soul music that will probably never see a release. Sadly the song is also kind of short with just under two minutes worth of deliciousness. Just put it on repeat, that’s what we did.

Many times I get the urge to hop on a plane to the old US of A. Simply because there is so much talent to be found there and sir JNTHN STEIN is one of those cats.

You may remember our favorite track, “Last Stop“, from L.A.’s Penthouse Penthouse featuring JNTHN STEIN. For his solo track “Laced Up” the Brooklyn-based producer teams up with fellow Brooklynite Brasstracks. Together they create some low down dirty and Jazzy instrumental, that blows (not only horns) but minds. We are looking forward to many more incredible collaborations like this in the future.

For now head over to JNTHN Stein’s Bandcamp page and peep some of his previous work.
