Henry Wu “All Over” Ft. Dziko (Moovmnt Premiere)
Electronica / Funk / Moovmnt Exclusives & Premieres / Music / Soul
Henry Wu is a very talented producer from Peckham, South East London, by way of Taiwan. A few months ago he released an EP on 22a Recordings including the song “All Over” featuring Dziko aka Shepard Manyika on vocals and Mo Kolours on percussion. This was a limited vinyl only press and has completely sold out. Unfortunately the song is not due to come out digitally any time soon, so we asked Mr. Wu if we could share this with the world.
Long time music friend of ours, sir Jay Scarlett, tipped us on The SugaZz earlier today. This vocal trio from Lausanne consists of Betty, Heleni and Natasha. These beautiful ladies have a debut full-length album out on Colors Records entitled “Pick Up The Phone”. Don’t be shy, give these ladies a listen. They’re waiting for you to scoop up the album FOR FREE!
Marcus Strickland’s Twi-Life is an electric band with its inception rooted in the soul music Strickland grew up listening to. Combining the musical stylings of a supergroup of sorts, Twi-Life features legendary trombonist Ku-umba Frank Lacy, dexterous keyboardist Yuki Hiran, bassist Mark Kelley (The Roots), dynamic drummer Charles Haynes and special guests Jean Baylor (Zhané) & Raydar Ellis. Strickland himself plays the the sax and does the production. The live version of “Inevitable” sounds so amazing thanks to miss Baylor, but remember this is a mere taste of things to come. And I know we’re excited to hear more from this project!
Meet 19 year old electric neo soul singer/songwriter/producer LeXuS. She began writing and producing at the early age of 9 and decided to take her vocal talents to the next level at the age of 15. She started experimenting with MAGIX & Mixcraft software and voice memos recording small snippets. Looking for a sound of her very own. She soon graduated to recording herself which lead to the release of her first project “Nostalgia”. Her most recent release is the “After Ours: A Love Story” mixtape (free download) featuring productions from Giorgio Oehlers, Elaquent and Evil Needle. This young lady has a unique refreshing style of her own and we think she has a lot of potential. A little rough around the edges, but very talented!
Dearly Beloved, we have gathered here today to enjoy some brand new sounds from IAMNOBODI.
Alex aka Mr. Nobodi aka Berlin’s baddest beat baker, offers you sixteen previously unreleased instrumental tracks. Please head on over to his Bandcamp page in case you want to support and purchase.
I’ve had my ear on Warren Xclnce for a while now and finally found the right moment to talk about young Skywalker Luke aka Mr. Cummings. The first song I heard from this talented producer from London was “Examine Me” featuring Etta Bond. This was on his “Nymphophonic” album which, for the record, also guests IAMNOBODI and miss Ego Ella-May. That one really blew my socks off and is still available for free download. Now fast-forward to today, to his latest production “Amazon” which is off a compilations project initiated by Collective Resonance. “The Amazon Project” is being put out to raise funds for the Amazon Rainforest and releases on the first of June. Modern Funk producer Tryezz from Chattanooga, Tennessee is a master of combining that eighties Funk with
dropped his fresh “Skylines” release earlier today. The project represents ten years of ups and downs. And it sets the perfect soundtrack for all those hot summer days to come! Head on over to Tryezz’ Bandcamp page to show some love.
Jesse Boykins III has done it again. Let’s face it. I thought “Love Apparatus” might not do the trick for me, but I have to admit I was wrong.
On his recently released album (on NoMadic Music) he gets help from MeLo-X, Haydyn, Chad Beatz and of course the mighty mighty Machinedrum himself! Another beauty created..
Last week sir Benny Badge blessed us with the new Freekwency album. I recon “Seal The Deal” sounds like being in the middle of the early eighties. It’s Funk at it sleaziest (in the best way possible). Of course partly thanks to contributions from Cazeaux O.S.L.O., Charli James, Jordan Ruru, Ale Chambers & De Konichiwa. So as I was carefully selecting which songs to stream, I found myself searching for that heavy headnod material with a heavy groove. And just when I was browsing on Soundcloud (for something totally different) my eye caught a glimpse of this Yam Who? edit. I guess it was meant to be in this post! Enjoy this wonderful Funk-filled album and purchase if you like what you hear.
